Santo Domingo.- Austrian companies ranging from high tech components and machinery manufacturers to Free Zone assembly operations look to the thriving Dominican economy to boost their business, with a push from their diplomats assigned to the region and the Austrian Business Circle (ABC) entrepreneurial association.
Executives from several Austrian companies gathered yesterday Thursday in an activity to showcase their products, ranging from the power plants Jenbacher to the General Electric affiliate Signal Dominicana’s electronic products.
The breakfast hosted by the ABC in the hotel Embajador also revealed the Austrian Government’s support of the companies’ efforts to expand in the country and in the region, as evidenced by the presence of Gertraud Lindorfer, Commercial Attaché for Colombia, Venezuela and the Caribbean.
She said the companies from her country are confident that Dominican Republic’s legal security paves the way for them to do business here, but noted the importance of materializing the incentives offered by the Government to attract important foreign investments. “There’s definitely legal security in Dominican Republic, I would note however that the Customs Agency should adhere to the incentives offered to foreign companies.”
The diplomat headed the encounter together with ABC president Rodolfo Hollander, the vice president Monika Harel, Free Zones Council director Alma Fernandez and Austria Consul General in the country, Karin Monschein Ostreicher.
Hollander noted the benefits provided by the Austria Business Circle, whose main interest is to help in bilateral trade as a tool for Dominican Republic’s development.
Among the executives who made presentations were Alexznader Minibock, Board Member of the General Electric affiliate PSG, and Benito Prieto Baumann, area sales manager of the same firm.
Also taking part in the working breakfast were Peter Jorgejan, of the power plants Jenbacher, whose presentation was interrupted by a power outage, and General Electric affiliate PSD Board Member, Franz Reinhold, who described his company’s benefits for the efficient operations of Dominican free zones.
