now i see where telemeco believes that the new york subway system and the metro bear certain similarities. yes, they do. they both rely on trains. and they are underground. beyond that , there is none. firstly, telemeco, the new york subways were municipal projects. they were funded by the city. so, some guy in Moose Jaw, South dakota, did not have his tax dollars going to a project he had no need for. in the DR, some guy in Sanchez, who will probably never go to Santo Domingo more than twice in his lifetime, is paying for the metro for the city slickers. the school which his kids need cannot be built because not only did the metro eat up close to a cool billion to build, it needs a cooler 25 million in annual subsidies to keep running. hey, there was a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in HAITI last month. had that hit Santo Domingo, i hate to contemplate the consequences. underground trains in earthquake belts...now there´s a stroke of genius for you.

Tax money is used to keep the social, educational, and infrastructural entities of a country flowing and growing.

Trinity, or whatever handle you use, you are just proving my point. the subways before 1932 were PRIVATELY OWNED. then came the IND, which was owned by the CITY. no FEDERAL MONEY. it was paid for by the municipality of New York, not the whole country. New York could never have rammed through a funding mandate for a project like that. it would have been opposed by the folks in places like Arizona and Idaho, etc. they would never pay for something they did not use. consider a billion as a fraction of the annual budget, and it will dawn on you why people in outlying provinces are being robbed.

Well, it's not Leonel's fault that most of Dominican men want to drink "Una Fria, con un cuero al lao".
Instead of learning of engineering, science, and all the goodies the world of education has to offer.
