Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Exporter Association (Adoexpo) aims to improve the agribusinesses’ participation and competitiveness, citing the elaboration of a guide with the requirements which more than 100 farm products must meet to gain access to the United States market and technical assistance for the agro-exporter.

Adoexpo said it implemented the project “Opportunities and technical requirements for market access under the Free Trade Agreement signed with Central America and the United States (DR-Cafta),” jointly with the Inter-American Development Bank, to bolster competitiveness and export capacity of the small and medium agribusinesses.

In a statement the exporters respond to a study by the Hunts Point Economic Development Corporation on Dominican Republic exports.

“Due to the difficulties which technical barriers pose to the entry of markets opened by Dr-Cafta, Adoexpo conducts a project to support small and medium agribusinesses since 2008, providing them information and technical advice on non-tariff requirements for companies which export directly or indirectly.”

Among sectors which their effort benefits the exporter group lists dairies, meats qne live animals, process3e foods, grains and fruits and vegetables.
