Santo Domingo.- The Government allocates 560 million pesos yearly in programs to improve and promote the health of farm animals, through the Livestock Agency, whose director Angel Faxas revealed that the entity recently invested RD$1.2 million to clean up the milk production facilities of one of the sub-sector’s top leaders.
He said the Agency, through the Agriculture Ministry’s Milk Production Improvement Program provided RD$1.5 million for the farms of the cattle ranchers, with around 89,000 heads of cattle.
Faxas said in the area of animal health Livestock has conducted 347,000 tests for tuberculosis and brucellosis different farms, to maintain the cattle’s good health.
The official added that in 2009 the Agency’s technicians worked in around 4,500 farms, where they provided assistance for the health of cattle and of pasturelands.
