Santo Domingo.- The town Piedra Blanca in central Monseñor Noel province began to elaborate its municipal development plan to orient the policies and activities of its new authorities for next the five years.
During an activity in the Sport and Cultural Club “El Filantropico,” more than 300 representatives and members of organizations of Piedra Blanca’s civil society, delegations from other municipalities in Monseñor Noel and Sanchez Ramirez provinces, government officials and executives of area companies discussed the municipal development plan.
The previous mayor Carmen Garcia said the Canadian embassy and Barrick Gold’s local subsidiary Pueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation, headed by Fernando Sanchez Albavera, support the process, in compliance with the agreement signed by these organizations and municipalities of Cotuí, Fantino, Maimón and Piedra Blanca.
“The agreement that supported the elaboration of the development plans for Cotuí, Fantino and Maimón and the implementation of the approbatory plebiscites for these plans that were conducted on May 3, 2009, also spur Piedra Blanca’s development plan, which haven’t been able to start until now due to circumstances not related to the municipality,” Garcia said.
