NEO-liberalism was, is and always will be a failure but for the few elites and the super corrupt politicians i.e. the 1%.

If the unbelievable amounts of corruption were contained almost all of our problems would be fixed at the same time. Problem is no way to contain our corruption as our whole government is rotten to the core. The rebellion against neo-liberalism is gaining steam!
Danilo throws Lie-onel and his economic NARCO-MARCO miracle under the METRO:
“Danilo spoke out yesterday, he said that crime would only be reduced if education quality in public schools is improved and people's purchasing power increases.”
"If we do not improve education in the schools and create the conditions for our young people to enter the productive world, then social peace in the Dominican Republic will be a chimera," he said.
“He said that 68% of the economically active population has a monthly income under RD$10,000.”
“He was speaking during a gala dinner held in his honor in San Francisco de Macoris, coordinated by Juan Octavio Ceballos, a former minister of public health, with the attendance of PLD senator Amilcar Romero, deputies Juan Compres, Juan Jose Rosario and Lupe Nunez, provincial governor Luz Selene Plata and community leaders, as reported in acento.com.do”

The Government could not twist the IMF’s arm
"Contrary to what happened during the administration of Strauss Kahn, the International Monetary Fund managed by Christine Lagarde was not "surprised" by the heavy lobbying the Dominican Government set in motion."
"With a fiscal deficit of 6% of gross domestic product (GDP), the Dominican economy, that does not generate domestic savings, goes to financing in a perfect Ponzi scheme. The ball is growing each year with each of the Government budgets."
I guess getting a few women to “entertain” Mr. Strauss Kahn so he would look the other way as Lie-onel and the PLD filled their coffers is no longer an option!
I hope Mrs. Lagarde is not into Sanky Pankies!

Even when told is was constitutionally illegal and warned it was an impeachable offense, Reagan commits to pissing on the US Constitution, (read Caspar Weinberger, US Sec. Of Defense, Iran-Contra, meeting notes) the same constitution that our most unabashed hypocritical resident, anthonyC, claims to uphold and revere.
If the tenets of socialism are true in that they seek to redistribute wealth, increase tax revenues, government and spending, then Reagan was the biggest socialist of all since in his tenure, he redistributed the wealth of the masses directly to the wealthiest 1%, at the expense of the middle class. He increased the size of government, incurred massive economic deficits, oh, and yes, raised taxes 7 times. anthonyC always follows the anti-intellectual script.

What is clearly going on is a mismatch between EXPECTATIONS and REALITY. More people than ever have higher expectations for a good life and want the maximum for their off-springs. As with all models put into practice, the Neo-liberlal model needs some adjustments: more monies for education, for instance. And Chile is providing more.

If after reading this opinion piece we vote for any of the three major political parties we have to truly check our moral compasses.
The Lack of Respect for….
“There is no respect where thieves - convicted and confessed - of defalcations in the national Treasury are pardoned and are immediately "reinstated" to their "leadership" positions in all three moral latrines that has goverened the country in recent years."
There is lack of respect when you see how the reactive electoral circus, with hemorrhagic fever wastes time and resources, offering, this time, the illusion of "choose" between the bad and the worst, while increasing the economic and social problems of the country, are magnified by indolence, apathy and lack of political will to confront them and seek solutions by those who run public affairs.”

Lo and behold I found the following item at 7dias.com
“Risk assessment agencies see threat in Mejía, says the head of Medina’s campaign”
"SANTO DOMINGO (Dominican R.). International risk assessment agencies would be persuading potential investors in the Dominican Republic of the "danger" to the macroeconomic stability an eventual Government of Hipólito Mejía, stated the campaign Manager for Danilo Medina, the ruling party’s candidate."
So far thats fine.
I thought the reason you summarized the headline and some of the article as well as not providing a link was due to expediency and your style for brevity in posting.

However, when I read further I come across this statement:
"Without citing any source, Francisco Javier García stated that, on the contrary, Medina is presented as "a factor of stability" and therefore guarantor of progress and development."
http://www.7dias.com.do/app/article.aspx?id=113190Now Juan, this is troubling to me especially for the high regard I hold in, as it relates to transparency.
Over the years I come to see that your sympathies lean towards the PLD, which is also fine. Currently I place you in the least of two evils camp, and that also fine, in fact I was a card carrying member of that club when I supported Miguel Vargas in the “any but Lie-onel movement” of 2008.
What I am disappointed is in the lack of your clarity in defending your choice, especially by using the same tactics of innuendo and rumors that have been historically so traumatic and devastating to the democratization of our country.

"Unless the name caller is a Fascist themselves as well as ignorant and figures they appear "caring and Kind" by calling those who disagree with them Fascist!"
And perfect example to prove your thesis is this statement from your extraordinary gray matte ;
"For a laugh explain to us how Milton Friedman and Leonel Fernandez are related? One if a free ,market capitalist(Friedman) and the other is a Crony Socialist, Borderline Fascist(Leonel)."
Therefore, using your sound reasoning and judgment as guidance, as you have brilliantly stated above I conclude you must be a Fascist!

Of the three, the DR was the smaller problem. Both Jamaica and Uruguay had the bigger issue and required more adjustments.
Go stick that into your A-h. Do your due diligence before tackling the issues. Also, perhaps you should READ about a nation's history before setting off on your ill-founded notions. nobody mentioned bankruptcy. i said poverty. i know that it is difficult for a guy like you to understand the difference , having dropped out of school in the fourth grade. the issue of poverty has to do with the fact that the returns from capitalism were accruing more to capital, than to labor. when you get your GED, you wil understand these nuances. till then, stick to cockfighting information.

thanks for telling that to us. now, i wish that you understood it. a nation can be technically bankrupt, in that it defaults on its debt obligations, and still function normaly, without outward signs of its credit situation. remember, Atabey, bankruptcy is a condition of debt. if you have no debts, but have no assets, nor money, you are destitute. if you cannot pay your debts, then bankruptcy could ensue. conversely, the economy could be performing great guns, yet more people slide into poverty, while a small percentage gets richer , by the day. are you posting from Planet Earth?do they have books where you live?

Poverty and progress
Dec 20th 2011, 15:45 by The Economist online
Poverty continues to fall in Latin America
THE United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) reckons that 31.4% of the region’s population was living below national poverty lines in 2010. This maintains a steady fall from a peak of 48.4% in 1990. Since 1999, most countries have made strides toward reducing poverty. Two things lie behind this progress. The biggest factor is the region’s strong economic performance: Latin America’s GDP expanded by 5.9% in 2010. This strong recovery meant that the 2008 recess

2008 recession in the region caused only a slight blip. Better-targeted social policies also help, especially cash-transfer schemes for the poor. But sustaining this progress will be hard. Extreme poverty, where income does not cover the need for basic food, is stuck at around 13%. (Several governments, including the Brazilian and Colombian, have unveiled initiatives aimed at the poorest.) Further falls in poverty and inequality will require greater efforts to raise productivity, to improve education and to shrink the informal economy."
Uruguay's poverty DECREASED by almost 50%! since 1999!! How's that for a meaningful statistic?

Which in DR translates to Lie-onel Fernandez , his wife in need of Weight Watchers, and the criminals of the PLD's Political Committee!
To many pigs at the feeding trough of public money and no real work being done by them..

World economy in turmoil
Mrs. Lagarde said:
“There is no economy in the world, whether low-income countries, emerging markets, middle-income countries or super-advanced economies that will be immune to the crisis that we see not only unfolding but escalating”
http://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/....16/42020/World-economy-in-turmoil

Temo Montas has zero credibility and beyond his well trimmed and spic and span public persona, underneath lies a plutocrat, with insatiable cravings for devouring public funds.

The DR military's medals can be translated to:
1. Not falling asleep often, while attending the staff command school.
2. Reaching his monetary quota for charging entry to Haitian illegals.
3. Attending all the barbecues and parties of the officers club.
4. Continuous and uninterrupted pandering to different civilian presidents.
5. Completing successfully and by himself all the paperwork for repeated automobile duty free exonerations.
6. Discreetly servicing their fincas and queridas, without attracting public scrutiny.
Hellborn25,
"eliminate your military budget"
"clearly there is no reason to have a military in the dominican republic"
It will never happen with this Chicken Shit we have for president or with Chicken Shit 2, if he were to miraculously get elected.
Remember Lie-onel is on record saying that he soils his Fruit of the Looms every time he thinks about going after the corrupt military.
“In the U.S. Embassy classified cable of October 28, 2004, part of the group provided to News source SIN by WikiLeaks, Fernandez told then ambassador Hans Hertell, after the diplomat referred in a conversation on corruption "the well-known practice of the military keeping 10% or more of the contracts," that it was a situation "beyond my (Fernandez) capacity to intervene."
Continued:
“If a Latin American president seriously interferes with that type topic of the military, he risks their attempt against his life,” Fernandez said, according to the cable.”

So if Danilo wins, who’s an even bigger Punk and Coward than Lie-onel (don’t forget Danilo wets his panties when you mention Lie-onel), the corrupt generals will have even more of a free reign.

So are you a born again pacifist or have you have joined danny’s camp on this issue?
Now for another perspective on the Narco-Marco-Neo-liberal Miracle of the Dominican Adam Smith-Milton Friedman, Lie-onel Fernandez:
"Throughout the year there continued to be intense questions about the policy of investment and social spending which are directed towards the general population that does not perceive the benefits of the economic growth."
"SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.-year 2011 concludes with so many uncertainties as it began, first institutional and political, and now in the economic order since the Government can’t make up its mind if it wants to or even can maintain the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), frozen in the last quarter."
"Despite high fiscal deficits with the current balance of payments, with a volatile international economic scenario and higher prices of imports that further aggravate deficit in the balance of payments, the Government managed to maintain macroeconomic stability and growth through a high indebtedness."

"Poor and worse choices"
Then there is the Honorable and Moral choice Guillermo Moreno Presidente 2012!
Remember Atabey; "It's not whether you win or lose; its how you play the game,"
Although you appear to pray at the Altar of "Winning isn't everything; It's the only thing."
That's why he was fired in humiliation by Truman!
Regarding Hipoloco Peligro Mejia, someone said: "The dumber people think you are, the more surprised they're going to be when you kill them."
Here we have another group of happy constituents with the rewards of the PLD’s and Lie-onel’s neo-liberal lift all boats economic policies:
“Farmers denounce corruption and abuse of staff”
“The complaint was made by farmers gathered at the first National Congress of milk producers, held in Boca Chica, Santo Domingo province”
“BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic-Dominican livestock farmers suffer the indolence of the Government officials who prefer to encourage imports to the detriment of domestic production of milk and meat, a policy that is marked by corruption.”

For a laugh explain to us how Milton Friedman and Leonel Fernandez are related? One if a free ,market capitalist(Friedman) and the other is a Crony Socialist, Borderline Fascist(Leonel).
"Borderline Fascist"
That’s the connection with Lie-onel, Milton and you, Alpha 66!
Though, I am glad you enjoy reading my "out of touch with reality" posting and feel so compelled to respond!
Now back to Corruption and Economics in METROLANDIA:
The reverend will not get invited to any neo-liberal parties or government functions this holiday season!
“Corruption and the private sector”
“In another aspect, the pastor Ezekiel Molina said that corruption is an evil that has its origins in the private sector.”
“He argued that it’s the private sector that encourages the corruption of government officials.”
“He added that when a politician takes office immediately characters in the private sector come to you proposing all kinds of business.”
"So it is from the private sector that originates the initiatives to ensure that those who hold public office become involved in unseemly activities," insisted the evangelical pastor."
“However Ezequiel Molina said that does not mean that this or anything else exonerates servants of the public administration that engage in malicious acts and give a misuse to the resources they are entrusted with.”

Not hearing from you for what is now approximately 4 or 5 hours and thinking you might be too busy to give me the link to the source for your posting, I decide to try and find any article related to the comments you posted.
I thought the reason you summarized the headline and some of the article as well as not providing a link was due to expediency and your style for brevity in posting.
continued:
However, when I read further I come across this statement:
"Without citing any source, Francisco Javier García stated that, on the contrary, Medina is presented as "a factor of stability" and therefore guarantor of progress and development."

Now Juan, this is troubling to me especially for the high regard I hold in, as it relates to transparency.

That's your link.
You do know that Fascism is a form of Socialism so there is no way people like Milton Friedman and myself can be called Fascist. Unless the name caller is a Fascist themselves as well as ignorant and figures they appear "caring and Kind" by calling those who disagree with them Fascist!
Just like you!!!
Yes, mordadito the same BS reported in 7 dias.com but were are Mr. Garcia's sources?
I bet he think Obama is the best US President since Jimmy Carter
Alpha66,
I agree with your statement:
"Unless the name caller is a Fascist themselves as well as ignorant and figures they appear "caring and Kind" by calling those who disagree with them Fascist!"
And perfect example to prove your thesis is this statement from your extraordinary gray matte ;
"I bet he think Obama is the best US President since Jimmy Carter"
No, Alpha 66 I wouldn't go that far back, just the best since George Bush jr.!
FedericoD,
I am sure there are people who take a similar view of Hitler after all he killed 10,000,000 atheist commie pigs during his invasion of the Soviet Union in WW II.
But then again there are people that Like “Uncle Joe Stalin” when he was our ally and helped us put the Nazis into the dust bin of history before most of Europe began speaking German.
Ah what a tangled web we humans weave!
Oh Boy, another segment of the society loses patience with the Neo-liberal economic mumbo-jumbo of Lie-onel, FUNGLODE and Atabey:
"Employers argue enough already with the diagnosing they demand results"
'SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic-the Association of industrial enterprises of Herrera and Santo Domingo province (AEIH) are advocating for an end to the "era of diagnoses", that always reaches the same conclusions with regards to the productive sectors, especially relating to local manufacturing."

“Dominicans survive thanks to the sale of drugs”
“SANTIAGO-The President of the national transport workers (CNTT), Juan Marte, asserted that Dominicans are surviving thanks to few employers that provide jobs, the solidarity card and 31 thousand drug selling spots which, in his view, exist in different parts of the country.”
What was that catchy little phrase my purple friends use to love to shout?

Of the three, the DR was the smaller problem. Both Jamaica and Uruguay had the bigger issue and required more adjustments.
Go stick that into your A-h. Do your due diligence before tackling the issues. Also, perhaps you should READ about a nation's history before setting off on your ill-founded notions. Uruguay has a VERY good record, save for that horrendous period during the 1970s "Condor Plan" and the ERA that followed. Up until that period, Uruguay was one of Latin America's most progressive nations.

nobody mentioned bankruptcy. i said poverty. i know that it is difficult for a guy like you to understand the difference , having dropped out of school in the fourth grade. the issue of poverty has to do with the fact that the returns from capitalism were accruing more to capital, than to labor. when you get your GED, you wil understand these nuances. till then, stick to cockfighting information.

Earth to Dready, a state of bankruptcy has been known to INCREASE poverty! Yikes!! What in God's Green Earth is happening to your mental state dready? You appear to be soooooooooooo fixated on being Mr. Nyet that you forget to use reason! LOL
thanks for telling that to us. now, i wish that you understood it. a nation can be technically bankrupt, in that it defaults on its debt obligations, and still function normaly, without outward signs of its credit situation. remember, Atabey, bankruptcy is a condition of debt. if you have no debts, but have no assets, nor money, you are destitute. if you cannot pay your debts, then bankruptcy could ensue. conversely, the economy could be performing great guns, yet more people slide into poverty, while a small percentage gets richer , by the day. are you posting from Planet Earth?do they have books where you live?

All I can say welcome home from your trip to the dark side my prodigal son!
I respect a man’s opinion but I respect him more when he has the guts to publicly admit he has seen a better way and is willing to change them.
Dogmatic beliefs are more dangerous to the world than nuclear weapons, so I respect you for having an open mind which in this current world environment, it seems to be a scarce commodity.

i made one remark about Uruguay, based on the numbers gathered by an international study group. the findings were that only two countries had experienced a rise in poverty...the DR, and Uruguay. dispute it, or go back yo your gallos, you simple minded half wit. i actualy posted the wording from the study. man, you should really never have stopped going to school in the 4th grade. look at you now.

Uruguay's poverty DECREASED by almost 50%! since 1999!! How's that for a meaningful statistic?
It's not so difficult to debunk your arguments Dready. :)
http://www.economist.com/blogs/graphicdetail
All one has to do is read good publications.
it is counterintuitive for me to argue with you, anyway, Atabey. firstly, you are trotting out STATISTICS to DEBUNK my arguments, when you do not know the difference between a model and calculus. it is i who explained to you what a scatter chart was. now that i have attempted to take you out of the bush, and enlighten you, you have the arrogance to believe that you are DEFEATING me. trust me on this one, Atabey...there are many people in this world, and in this site, who are more educated thatn i am. YOU are NOT one of them. i have been vetted by graduate schools, and my bonafides are authentic. my Graduate Diploma in Development Economics, from the World Bank Institute, tells me that i know more, on my worst day, than you will ever do,on your best. stick to baseball, and keep trying to figure out how to flush the toilet, and how to use a fork, instead of a spoon, for eating rice.
