Lund, Sweden.- Swedish company Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has won orders from Wärtsilä Corporation to supply air cooled heat exchangers, boilers and separators for a combined cycle power plant for a gold mine in the Dominican Republic. The order value is approximately SEK 65 million  (over 9.37 million US dollars) and delivery is scheduled for 2012.

The Alfa Laval heat exchangers will be used for engine cooling, the separators for oil treatment and the boiler system will recover heat from the engines’ exhaust gases to produce steam for the steam turbine. The boiler system was included in the Alfa Laval product range through the acquisition of Aalborg Industries in May this year.

The equipment will be installed in a combined cycle power plant which will supply electricity to a gold mine in the Dominican Republic.

“This order is based on our extended combined offer after the acquisition of Aalborg Industries”, says Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. “The order confirms our strengthened offer and strong position as solution provider to the power industry.”

Did you know that… a diesel or gas engine power plant can be built and started up within six months, which is faster than any other power generation plant?
