Santo Domingo.- Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales announced Thursday that president Leonel Fernandez will visit Russia in the next few days, less than one week after returning from a highly criticized tour of more than two weeks to Europe and India.

Morales said Fernandez will sign important agreements and make contacts to attract investors to Dominican Republic’s tourism and energy industries, areas the official said are generating interest in that country.

He hailed Fernandez’s visits abroad and noted that the President’s trips are what made Dominican Republic the Caribbean’s leading investment destination, for which the country needs to keep that advantage.

Morales provided the details on Fernandez’s trip to India, stressing that his country’s future depends on development of technological parks or software companies, as evidenced by the Asian giant’s advanced technologies. “We visited two of the most important software development companies. New jobs have doubled in Bangalore.”

The Ministry of Education has announced the indefinite cancellation of the school breakfast program. Education Minister Melanio Paredes said the decision came after a recommendation by President Leonel Fernandez himself, on the grounds that if the program could not be guaranteed, it was better off being suspended
THE KIDS NEED SOME KIND OF HELP, THEIR PRESIDENT LEO IS OFF TO EGYPT TO HELP SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OVER THERE., HE'S TRYING TO PREVENT WORLD WAR #3

I don't see any TRADE schools popping up in DR, fernandez is also selling the Brooklyn bridge, the one going to SDQ airport..... All these critical trips to create jobs, where is the preparations for the anticipated jobs in the near future?.......I THINK LEO IS JUST BLOWING SMOKE UP EVERYONE ASS...and is only planning an escape route.

A simple task needed to assist construction, will have to be earned in SPAIN!!!!!!! If you don't have monies on this island, you will never get educated enough to succeed and reach your dreams as long as leo and his merry-band of thieves are in power, you will never get ahead.

Let me state at the outset that I am not a supporter of Pres. Fernandez , but I will be the first to admit the trips he makes overseas are necessary because we are a developing small country that's in the stage of infancy trying to walk in order to make its presence known on the world stage . Unfortunately, we have so many misinformed individuals on this website with brains that are geared more towards instant gratification than getting at the truth. I hope that most of you will understand that the economic plans that have been laid out over the last five years may only show dividends within the next 10 to 20 years. And as the old saying goes, "Roma non fu fatta in un giorno", or "Rome wasn't built in a day."

I have said it before. This president is not interested in DR. He just likes to travel to other countries while the average Dominican earns $200.00 a month. The only people that benefits from his travels is himself. The reason Dominicans are so poor is because he does invest in his our country.

Danny00,

There is no question he's not trying to build the Roman Empire. My statement refers to an old and popular saying that illustrates something such as a simple commonly used analogy. I had to use it because everybody, and I mean everybody today wants results, and wants them NOW! We are irritable and sometimes even nasty to those who cannot deliver. We expect what we want immediately as if it were our birthright. Living in the instant gratification trap is not living, it is being constantly dissatisfied and angry.

My question is, why does he have to make those trips? Why don't assign someone as foreign ministry to talk to all those countries and he does his job that is to assure the viability of dominicans. If he has one, why doesn't he use it or better yet, trade jobs with him.

Martingarata,
You raise a great question.

I could be wrong, but here's my take. Most world nuclear power leaders find it insulting and disrespectful to have to deal with a secondhand messenger boy, especially when the middlemen comes from a Third World nation. Unfortunately, for the leaders of small underdeveloped nations the rules change drastically when dealing with the nuclear club and Nato weapons sharing weapons recipient states.

Suavecito, slowly pull your head out of leo's big ass, you can't see or hear what's going on, we have been patiently waiting 8 illegal presidential years for results and what we get so far.....ZILTCH!!!

So, you're saying that the Oil deal that ended with giving away 49% of the only oil refinery(God only knows what's leo's vested intrest in the refinery) Leo made with chavez will get better after 10 to 20yrs and not the 2yrs that leo predicted.....MORON!!!

I'm tired of all the excuses for lee-FLEA's behavior. No matter what anyone says, there is no justice with leo. So far everything he has done is for the choosen few.

RobertoJose,

I am astound because my post went way over your head because of your overbearing ego that assumes just because you think or imagine something to be so, that it is. Unfortunately, you completely misunderstood my writings by not acting and reacting within the objective, truthful reality, the failure you have displayed comes from living within an inaccurate view of reality due to repressed anger, frustration, and resentment - And if by chance the subject matter and scope of the intricacies appear to be outside your realm of expertise, you have other issues to consider that are not related to yours truly.

By the way, you might want to read the postings all over again. And please don't overreact by letting your peevishness and frustrations impair your judgment. Remember, we all get and give filtered information.

ElSuavecito,
Thanks for contributing this well thought out post because it's so easy to dismiss the complexities in a situation, but pay close attention, and a different more complex situation is revealed.

There certainly is an objective, truthful reality. This is despite a stacked deck against seeing and knowing it because of dualistic thinking that persuades us something has to be either real or unreal. The only real area that Fernandez has excelled in is on the foreign investment front. This is due to Press. Fernandez unique ability to attract foreign investors.

As for the rest of Press. Fernandez's Presidential term of office, which is stained with neglect and disregard, he will be shown the door and kicked out because an outright case of criminal neglect in protecting Dominican sovereignty with the handling of illegal emigration, and for violating the Dominican Constitution on Education Law 66-97, that has been systematically ignored for more than ten years, which requires 4% to be spent of the DGP.

So allow Press. Fernandez to continue making his investment seeking opportunity trips because it's the only task he has shown himself to be useful in mastering.

ElSuavecito,

It's not your fault that most of the low-grade morons on this website cannot understand what they read. Unfortunately. most of them have a 4th grade reading level. And It's just not worth debating someone who is incapable of deciphering and understanding basic information.

I see where this is going.

Yes, you're right, I am full of angry frustation and its because we have a president that does nothing to fix the reputation of the Island that has been tarnished twice fold after the last MULE of a president we had. Now, we have intellects like yourself with the ability to abstract, form and reduce the information content of a concept to retain only information which is relevant for a particular purpose.

Oh Yea, That monkey on your back is really KennyB, if you didn't notice.

i guess you are one who believes that he really means to accomplish something. NOT. Leo is just a slick huckster, who has had a ton of fun at the expense of the people of this country. he spends more time out of the country than in it. serious heads of state have surrogates to conduct the affairs of state.Obama does not go on a jet every time something needs to get done. some times Hilary goes. some times Biden goes. or, someone else. Leo goes on every trip which requires international travel. he is never here. he has seen every country on the globe, at the people´s expense. it is to laugh!
