I'd like to see popular groups organize "no-fuel days" in the country.
One day a week, all vehicles off the streets.
That should hurt Fat Cat Fadul and his bunch of thieves.
What was the fuel bill for Leo's last trip to Switzerland and India???
That's what we are paying, my friends.

As promised, fuel prices jump........sure is , do you think that the DR government will skip this good opportunity and not levy more taxes?

Honestly, everyone else in rest of world is paying higher prices, direct results of the couragious and liberating uprisings presently taking place in key Arab countries: Tunisia; Egypt; Lybia; Bahrain; Yemen; etc.
To some extent, our government plays part in gas pricing, in the form of taxes; however, I doubt that is those taxes that have instigated recent high prices. In any case, we know how afraid LF is of Hibieres and rest of "country owners". I don't really suppose he wishes to upset them. Love or hate them, you've got to give Hubieres and his gang some credit for standing up to present government-even if we disagree with their premise. Heck, it works for them every time.

Spain has introduced a lower speed limit and other economy measures in response.
As roads are of poor quality in DR in many places how about a 50MPH speed limit. This cuts consumption in many vehicles and hence the import bill.
Just needs a few teams of police with radar guns.

Don't blame the DR government on that one. Prices went up everywhere. Here, we had a hike of 10 cents a litre today (10 x + - 33+ = 3.30 P). The price per barrel went up worldwide. Maybe we will get into the habit of working out our daily use of the car. Airline tickets are already going up as well.

Needs a few teams with radar guns was the other part.
aC, pig, freeloads when others lower consumption and the price he pays goes down.
He and others of his breed consume more and the price goes up.
Much oil comes from very expensive sources, oil shale, deep sea and arctic drilling.
If World oil consumption halved, quite possible with present technology, the price of oil would go down to the price of production from the cheapest sources.
Other valuable oil products would also go down.
But while the World is dominated by pigs such as Obama who do nothing and even worse politicians supported by aC problems will remain.

glomarEx ..while you were away you must have missed the government statement relating to price increases in gasoline .They were to be made on the basis of inflation not the price of crude ,We have an arrangement to buy oil from Venezuela not on the world market .The minister is changing his basis for fuel increases I assume to bring in more revenue

@Ricky,
Yes, Rick, I was gone from forum for about a year. During that time, I may have missed much of what's discussed here daily.
Perhaps you missed my vail of sarcasm.
My comments could never be mistaken with support for any of these thugs. One is totally dillusional with thoughts of grandeur and of some day perhaps ascending to post of UN General, when in fact he is nothing more than a "Bannana Republic" president-in full meaning of the term. The other is just a barrio thug, who is allowed to exist only by the lack of integrity and commitment to justice of the regime. Back in the times when we really had strong leadership, Hubieres would have been hung from a lampost for all to see. Too bad real men have disappeared from the political landscape.
