Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez will meet with his Cabinet today when they’ll adopt measures to confront the jumps in the price of oil and raw materials, said Economy minister Temistocles Montas.

He said the chief executive will head the gathering starting 10 a.m. today in the National Palace. “The economic team on Monday discussed the aspects related to the prices of petroleum and raw materials with the President.”

Montas said the Economy and Treasury ministries draft several proposals to discuss with the Cabinet, aimed at adopting a plan of rationality, austerity and savings needed confront the increases on oil and raw material prices, a situation he called “volatile.”

Send a contingent of Miss Dominican Republic contestants to Hugo's house in Caracas to be sex slaves in exchange for more cheap gas.

I like your thinking Walnut. However, even cheaper pricing from Hugo would mean LF would increase the tax to offset any savings. At nearly $5.20 a gallon at the station, the govt. will close all stations down 1 or 2 days a week in order to reduce the volume. And snow is in the forecast for July in the DR as well.

Adopting measures to get richer is more likely to happen than lower prices. Lee-FLEA couldn't adhere to the original contract to maintain lower pricer with the partnership of the only refinery.

just wait with the unrest in the middle-east which seems to be growing to many other countries. hold on to your hats, this just is starting now.
tons of money by investors going into stock options for gas... this also is driving up the prices.
like when president bush starting drilling for gas in the states this happen when gas was at $145 a barrel the higest its ever been in its history.
when he ordered the drilling to start the price went down within 6 months to record lows like $35 a barrel.
have a great day in the dr folks...

He can start with restricting access to free fuel to official vehicles that are unnecessary, i.e. official vehicles used by PLD cronies for personal purposes.

Lets get real here. The govt. pays pennys per gal. to Chavez and jacks the price through the clouds. Recently I read that the govt. was forced to raise the price of fuel due to the chaos in LIBIA. We have absolutely nothing to do with LIBIA. Our sorry high sulfer fuel comes from Venezuela.

The Govt. thinks we're a bunch of stupid Indians.

Well Pocahontas I have some info for you. Chavez doesn't set the price of oil. The Market does.
