Santo Domingo.- Parmalat Dominicana recently hosted a media tour of its facilities, which feature advances to optimize production and contribute to Dominican Republic’s sustainable industrial development.

General manager Roberto Amodio, who led the guests on the tour, noted that Parmalat the primary target is to contribute to the viability of the Dominican Industry reinforcing and optimizing the principles of quality and productivity.

Journalists were able to get a first hand look at the modern manufacturing equipment to process Parmalat’s products, such as Extreme High Temperature, or UHT, technology used to obtain milk of long shelf life, which can be stored at room temperature for 180 days.

“As part of our plan to invest in the value chain of Dominican family-owned dairy farms, Parmalat is developing a series of technical assistance programs regarding good manual milking practices as well as cattle maintenance,” it said in a statement.

It said training material was launched in the country through a technical cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Farm Research Company, EMBRAPA, to implement the Embrapa Manual Milking Kit, which has contributed to constant improvements in quality. “Parmalat Dominicana promotes the country’s agribusiness with 600 dairy farmers located mostly in the Northwest region, who deliver their productions to 15 Collections Centers managed by community associations of the various localities.”

Now if they would restrict the type of milk they buy to the quality mandated in the Civilized world the DR would be in a lot better shape.. If you heard how bad the milk they use in cheeses here you would cut that out of your diet here as well.

@Escott,
There's a difference between hearing a rumor, then the actual truth.
