Santo Domingo.- All foreign professionals will have to register in the Consumer Rights Institute (Pro-Consumidor) to be able to work in the country, executive director Altagracia Paulino announced in a press conference Thursday.

Resolution 03-11 from the organization contains the requirement to register, because the Dominican Republic-Central America-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA) doesn’t foresee the status of foreign professionals who provide their services in the country.

The registry requirement stipulates so that suppliers of services must  present their technical or professional credentials as guarantee of their temporarily operation in Dominican Republic.

Here's a novel idea that just might move business forward, Stop with all the run around for nothing BS!!!

Ever wonder why 80% of the foreigners living here do not keep their cedula up to date? No less than 5 different places to shuttle around the traffic jammed city of Santo Domingo. Staff that could care less and fees that are higher than 1st world countries.

Are they serious?

Most foreign nationals who work in the D.R. just stay on a tourist card and if they stay too long just pay the nominal fine when they leave.
Their salaries are deposited in an offshore account.

Only a twit or some aging hippy type working as a waiter or similar would actually do all the paperwork

I'm guessing they will have to pay a nice hefty fee or fees for that registration...
