SANTO DOMINGO.- The Industry and Commerce Ministry (MIC) posted the fuel prices to be in effect starting tomorrow Saturday, when premium gasoline will cost RD$234.50, a RS$4.60 jump, and  regular gasoline climbs RD$4.0, to RD$218 per gallon.

Premium diesel will climb RD$2.5, to RD$202 per gallon, and regular diesel will cost RD$2.70 more, to RD$196 per gallon.

Propane gas rises 70 cents, and will sell for RD$107.56 per gallon.

The question is why? Have world oil prices risen to force this increase or is this just another means of the rich getting richer by robbing the poor? Higher prices equals more tax revenue, more money going into someones pocket.

This is insane... In less than one yr. a 40% increase on fuel cost. I believe LF now after he stated less then two weeks ago; the national strike was not going to change how his govt. was going to conduct business.

At the rate at which propane gas is increasing in price, which is what most people use for cooking, Dominicans will be forced to follow the Haitianos and use charcoal!!

invest your money in brazil. a stable and expanding economy.
not only is brazil a democary, but it imposes no restrictions on foreign companies repatriating their earnings.
few weeks ago vice pres. from china went to south america {past up the dr} why! he was in chile and brazil and costa rica.

gdp in chile last year was 9.2. other country thats flying high as a kite.

with Mexico and Venezuela both major oil producers and a refinery very close to the Island the gasoline prices should not be so high. The cost of transporting a tanker full of refined gasoline should be only a small percentage of the total cost. What is the import taxes and other taxes charged on the gasoline?
