Hipolito Mejia, center, observes as Marco De la Rosa, right, explains figures.
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Foreign Investment Companies Association (Asiex), and Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) presidential candidate Hipólito Mejía held a gathering Thursday to analyze the candidate’s work plan and exchange ideas on long term projects by investors in the country.
Mejía pledged “to guarantee macroeconomic stability” to the representatives of the foreign companies, after being elected in the next polls in 2012, so that foreign and local capital as well find the suitable atmosphere to develop their investment projects. The ex president said he’s aware of the investors’ relevance for the country’s social and economic development.
ASIEX president Marco De la Rosa thanked the candidate for spending time with the investors which presented their plans for growth in the medium and long term and listened to Mejia’s vision on the priorities of his project of nation.
De la Rosa told Mejía that the sectors with major growth forecasts within the companies within ASIEX are in mining, telecommunications, energy, financial sector, construction and tourism with investments that would surpass 10.0 billion dollars in the next five years.
Barrick Pueblo Viejo Corporation, a member of Asiex’s board of directors hosted the activity, with the attendance of
Sonia Guzman, Carlos Felix-Gimbernard, Ivan Rodriguez, Carolina Mejia, Arturo Martínez Moya, Fernando Duran, Jose Ramon Díaz, Mayor General Díaz Morfa, Faruk Miguel, all members of the candidate’s work team, and the members of the Asiex Board of Directors, Marco De la Rosa, of AES Dominicana, Carlos González, of Cemex, Máximo Vidal, of Citi, Oscar Peña, of Codetel, Manuel Bonilla, of Barrick Pueblo Viejo, Miguel Estepan of ESSO, José Luis Alonso, of the bank BHD, Carl Carlson, Alejandro Peña Prieto, of Squire Sanders, Alfonso Paniagua, of Central Romana, Octavio Ramírez, of Kinox, and Ramón Ortega, of PWC .

He will need to do some fast thinking because I believe the odds that if he wins the election for President , the dollar will buy more than 45 pesos reasonably quickly and all rollovers of debt will be much more expensive. For all the faults of LF. overseas lenders seem to have confidence in him and the peso has remained quite stable over the past 3 or 4 years

Foreign investors have confidence in the PLD. We need to elect Danilo. With all the turmoil in the US and Europe, the DR has been able to maintain or grow its economy. There are still lots of unsolved problems but Hipolito is definitely not the answer.

Due to his disatrous past tenure I swore an oath to leave the DR if this bozo was reelected.
Now, due to his opponent's confessed willingness to "continue what's good" I may have to go regardless of who wins.
What's good? Good for who. Him and the other crooks already in office?
It's time to realize that our "One Party System" (the PLRD) isn't working.

Hipoloco is not thinking anything, he is not that smart.......lol
If he gets elected the dollar is going to 90 to 1, and all the investors are going to pack up and leave, except Barick gold of course, that needs to take the mined gold out before they exit.
He makes promises, so what if he doesn't keep them? He promised publicly over 100 times that he was not going to run for reelection, and on a whim he gave everybody the finger.
Hipoloco has no ethics, morals or respect for anyone, or anything, if he wins, forget about it.
PS: Unless the business men will force him to a strict code, like the Japanese Yakuza, anytime he lies or messes up then you cut a finger off, pretty soon he will be armless and feet less, lol.

Macroeconomics, in short is the overall workings of a national economy. Hipolito wants to put at peace any fears foreign investors have of his political shenanigans upsetting the stability of development in the country. Politics is a very important ingredient in the macroeconomic soup and Hipolito's contribution to the mix would leave a very sour taste.

Really? I mean WTF? When I bought my house in the DR I got RD$ 54 peso for every US 1 due to his leadership. Because of his prior mis-management my dollars went a long way...
Incredible, that he expects anyone to believe him. The amazing part is that many will.

Does that has a reasonable explanation other than PLAIN and SIMPLE ROBBERY???

I WILL NEVER vote for Hipolito Mejia, because for me PLD and PRD are the SAME SH*T BUT You people fail to recognize one thing, average people like ME, who happen to live on DR, DON"T CARE about 8 years ago, we care what is happening on this country TODAY, we care what happens on the fuel pumps EVERY Fu*ing FRIDAY, that is why Danilo and Leonel's strategy of Blaming all sh*t to Hipolito, while they excuse their 8 consecutive years at the office of all Sins, WILL NEVER WORK !!! as it just irritates people even more! that pure arrongance will be Danilo's DOOM
