Santo Domingo. - Two industry groups made several proposals which in their view, create the base for the country’s sustainable development and suggest that the presidential candidates take them into account for a grand pact of nation.
The Herrera and Santo Domingo Province Industries (AEIH) and the Industries Federation (FAI) asked more coherence from the government agencies linked to the export policies, so the country improves its trade balance.
They also called on the Government to return to legality regarding the ITBIS tax collection from companies registered in the entity, ProIndustria, whose bylaw stipulates that the levy will be applied at the end of the productive process and not in the beginning.
They also called improved access to bank credit “fundamental” for industries and for the country to have the goal of a continuous, quality, reliable and competitively priced electrical service.
The document from the presidents of FAI, Wadi Cano Accra and of AEIH Ignacio Méndez asks to strengthen the state of law by creating new judicial hierarchies, as the new Constitution mandates, and to take concrete steps toward a wide-ranging reform of the government’s law-enforcement agencies.
The business leaders also ask to improve the quality of public spending as fundamental and to allocate, without delay, 4% of the GDP to education in the 2013 budget.

One of Lie-onel's Three Stooges speaks candidly about the economy:
“Admits the electrical problem stalls the review of agreement with IMF”
“At least during this electoral period there is no chance of an increase in electricity tariff." It is a decision of the Government of President Leonel Fernandez. "This should be a decision by the new Government," he said through a note by the Ministry of economy, planning and development.”
So Lie-onel Fernandez will leave the hot potato of raising the electricity rates to the next Government
Talk about passing the peso!
In 2000 he passed the buck of the impeding collapse of Baninter to the next government now he repeats his Modus operand of taking the money and running.
cintinued:
"If these expectations of recession in Europe and the U.S. economic situation materialize, obviously that will take effect in the country", he said, referring to the fears of some sectors on the exhaustion of the budget for the year in the first six to eight months of the year, and the possibility the next Government would barely have enough resources to pay the August payroll.

"Housewives and traders complain about rising prices of basic food basket products"
They have been complaining in every government that has been in power since the birth of the Republic. I think it is an innate trait for Dominicans to whine regardless of how good or bad things remain.
Whether complaining out of habit or reason, dismissing the public’s sentiment can lead to peril;
As Clinton would say; It’s the economy Stupid!
