Santo Domingo.-  For the 7th consecutive year American Airlines was voted the most admired airline in 2011, in the annual survey of readers by the upscale magazine Mercado.

The poll identifies the country’s most admired companies, as the carrier again tops the position of leadership

With 49.5% of the votes, American Airlines continues being the airline Dominicans most prefer, climbing 10.5 points higher than the previous year.

“We’re honored to be selected as the Dominicans’ most admired airline already for the seventh consecutive year and we set out to continue working to provide the best travel experience to our consumers in Dominican Republic,” said Oliver Bojos, American Airlines general manager for Dominican Republic.

“We also want to recognize Mercado magazine for the quality and consistency with which it publishes this edition which has become a reference for the country’s market preferences year after year.”

AA is the first airline to start robbing flyers. Now, you pay more money for less services.

I can't believe it!
AA is the worst airline in the world - the only one to every lose my bags, and they did it 4 times in 2 years. I've lost count of the number of lost connections and cancelled flights.
Sum-total of all compensation? $10 for a coffee and a doughnut, (for an 8-hour delay) and a standard template apology email in response to a detailed written complaint.
Maybe people voted for AA to stop them going under completely?
Morons!

You know guys airlines they are'nt like they use to be any more. After they were deregulated we as comsumers have been paying the price ever since. We as consumers should send a message to them that we will not tolerate this type of poor service.

Who to believe:

" American Airlines"

"American's parent, AMR, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November 2011. That virtually wiped out the value of the holdings of every shareholder. American recently was picked as the worst airline for customer service by the annual Middle Seat scorecard, published in the Wall Street Journal. "For the past five years, American has been among the worst three airlines at on-time performance, a key measure of an airline's operation since it impacts mishandled bags, bumped passengers and even canceled flights and customer complaints," the survey's authors said. The report states that the airline was the worst among major carriers last year for baggage handling and canceled flights, nixing 70% more flights than United (UAL +0.11%) and Delta (DAL +2.18%). With a score of 63 in the American Customer Satisfaction Index section on airlines, American falls near the bottom, well below leader Southwest (LUV +0.89%), which has a score of 81."
