Santo Domingo.- The World Bank chief economist for Latin America, Augusto de la Torre, pointed out that the electricity deficit in the Dominican Republic has to do more with politics than with technical issues.

According to Listin Diario, De la Torre said that everyone knows the problem well and understands its nature even more than multilateral organizations like the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank.

"Everyone in the Dominican Republic has a private individual solution to blackouts, when a real solution needs to be a joint effort," he stated.

On the other hand, former President Leonel Fernandez said Thursday that the numbers relating to the 2011 deficit represent the investment in the electricity subsidy, in the recapitalization of the Central Bank, and in the fuel subsidies.

Regarding the fiscal reform proposed by the government, Fernandez said he trusted that the Dominican society will be able to understand the need that the current government has to increase its income.

Now the IMF also Slams Saint Danilo and IRS Atabey for LYING trying to COVER-UP for Lie-onel!

IMF: Crisis CDEEE is a matter for the Government

“SANTO DOMINGO-The result of the policies of the Government for the years 2011 and 2012 to avert the crisis in the electricity sector is "absolute responsibility of the Dominican authorities", according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).”

They sound PISSED at you Saint Danilo!

In other words don’t pass the BUCK/PESO to us PLD!

"Many countries have had this problem and the vast majority resolved it, since no company is sustainable on a service that is a necessity for the whole population," he said.

Here comes Hard Upside the head Slap to Narco lie-onel and the PLD Economic Geniuses!

"DOMINICAN REPUBLIC HAS THE PECULIARITY OF BEING ONE OF THE COUNTRIES THAT ARE TAKING MORE TIME TO SOLVE THE POWER PROBLEM, dates back more than 40 years and THERE IS NO COUNTRY IN THE WORLD THAT HAS DELAYED BOTH TO RESOLVE THAT PROBLEM", noted Savastano, at the end of the presentation in Tokyo from the regional economic report, prepared by the Department in the Western hemisphere.”

I would love to know what HIS version of "individual solutions" actually is. Candles are not a "solution". What an idiotic thing to say!

The IMF sub-director goes on to say:

"The agreement Stand by signed in 2009 by the Dominican Government with the IMF ended in March of this year without that completion of the latest revision. Last July the President Medina expressed interest in talks for a possible program, in Punta Cana. Medina explained that more than one year had passed since the last visit and was favorable to a visit from the IMF to learn about economic indicators and then start the dialogue".

“On that basis - we agreed to make a first visit, which was one in the last month of September and another that will be in the first weeks of November, then to work on article IV, since it was only the first visit when "we discovered the size of the fiscal deficit".

I.e. what Lie-onel and the PLD were hiding to steal the election!

On tax reform

“Savastano revealed that the IMF will in November, do a post-monitoring, regardless of whether or not an agreement Stand by...”

“He recalled that in 2010, 2011 and 2012 the agreed deficit was 3% and that it was compatible with adequate funding "but it turns out that it was higher, as the previous Government decided to raise less and spend more, and that was what the new Government was found, and whose expenses includes the electricity sector".”

Meaning; Lie-onel destroyed the Economy to win the election at all cost so he Margarita and Félix Bautista could stay out of jail!

Weaker fiscal situation

"He said that when you spend more and you don’t have income, the deficit gets bigger, as is happening now in the country, presenting a fiscal situation in his view, weaker than what they had estimated by the IMF in 2010 and the Government itself, from 2% to 3%."

"He indicated that, if the deficit has widened, it has to be reduced, because one of that magnitude cannot be maintained for much longer, and that's where the tax reform comes in as a way of closing the gap."

"He said that during the last 40 years, specifically in the last 10 to 15, Dominican Republic had no agreements with the Fund every year."

>>>>>>>>Juanb he purposely made this following statement for you!!!!!!

“HE EXPLAINED THAT THE IMF PROGRAMS ARE AGREEMENTS, NOT IMPOSITIONS, RECALLING THAT ELECTIONS WERE HELD IN THE FIVE-YEAR PERIOD AND THEN A CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT.”

And let’s not for the other Slap in Saint Danilo and Lie-onel’s Face by the World Bank!

Now comes the Double WHAMMY!

Also the World Bank

“On Thursday, Augusto de la Torre, Chief Economist of the World Bank (WB) for Latin America and the Caribbean, said electric Dominican Republic problem is political, not technical.”

“He said that everyone in the Dominican knows very well the problem and understand their nature, even more than international agencies such as the Inter-American Bank of development (IDB) and the World Bank, as he also knows that there must be a better balance.”

"The problem is central and background, because no matter with whom you converse, or with opinion leaders, entrepreneurs, workers with families, everyone knows the subject, since it is the country where most commonly used solutions private to the energy problem, since almost all businesses and even families have their own generator", said...”

“He explained that "all know that most of the population does not pay the service and that the few who do pay, pay too much and to this we must find a solution".”

Dr. Dread I think you will enjoy this:

IRS Atabey, now it’s not just Dr. Dread telling you and Sanit Danilo that you are WRONG!

“It’s an error for Danilo to push the economy into informality”

“To increase taxes and introduce new tax figures to raise more resources from taxpayers implies slower growth and greater informality in the economy.”

Read the rest at:

Es un error de Danilo empujar la economía hacia la informalidad

La vía de incrementar impuestos e introducir nuevas figuras impositivas para recaudar mayores recursos de los contribuyentes implican menor crecimiento y mayor informalidad en la economía.

Of course it is a government problem. If we weren't so corrupt maybe people wouldn't be able to steal the money and not pay the suppliers. If the suppliers were paid instead of our corrupt government officials robbing the money we would all have 2/47 electricity.

I hate to say it but we need a revolution in this country and rid ourselves of corruption from the top down replacing everyone. Anyone who steps out of line should be executed and all of their family assets seized and put back into the government funds. We all know that is where it came from.

""Everyone in the Dominican Republic has a private individual solution to blackouts, when a real solution needs to be a joint effort," he stated. "

Dominicans would rather spend a fortune on an inverter and batteries, than pay a pittance on their electricity bill. Conserve electricity when on batteries, then waste it as fast as possible when the power is on to "get their money's worth". Never occurs to them that this makes the blackouts longer and more frequent. Entitlement mentality!
