Santo Domingo. _ Dominican Republic’s power generation companies grouped in ADIE aren’t willing to renegotiate energy purchase contracts because they are the result of international call for tenders held during the sectors capitalization agreed to by the State.

ADIE executive vice president Milton Morrison made the statement Sunday and defended the system of fees and formulas used to calculate the price of electricity to distributors, affirming that the Electricity Law clearly states it as well.

"There are agreements signed based on joint acceptance between the Dominican government and private generators. The economy is dynamic. You cannot make a deal one day when the conditions are right and then break the agreement because some variables change. I believe in taking care of the investment climate and especially the country's stability, but also they are contracts which will expire before long," he said.

Morrison, quoted by listin.com.do, warned that Dominican Republic loses more in terms of image if it violates the agreements instead of allowing them to expire.

The ADIE executive said President Danilo Medina has spoken of the need to increase foreign investment, so if you don’t respect or violate contracts it will introduce an element of noise and nothing which helps the country’s macroeconomic stability, but will also make investors understand that the Dominican Republic doesn’t respect the rules of the game.

You are a bunch of Suckers, like the leech you love blood but do not like to bleed; now the economy is dynamic as long as you are making profits. I would like to see what your reaction would be if you have to pay to the state when your plants are down, that would be a great deal also (?)

All of the electric generations contracts must be reviewed and tackled, how it is possible that you keep becoming money from the state whether you generate or not; nobody should pay for a service that he/she does not become (!)

now you can pretend all the way to be a fair and responsible enterprise ... like Josean, you Suck (°;°)

NOTA: Fresh off the JB 856, the investment activies are even greater than 2 weeks ago when we visited the Punta Cana region; we'll see again in another 2 weeks. Also found out the exact location of the soon to be XTREME PARK.

NOTA 2: For the 22 acres some where interested for information and we were going to provide more details.... Ahhhh, ehhh, sorry, we like it too, the ball is already rolling.

NOTA 3: The recently inaugurated Sheraton Four Points @ Punta Cana Village is indeed a very nice spot to crash; not a resort!

This is a complicated matter and I am not cognizant of all the antecedents, so I'll thread lightly on the subject.

As I understand it, the government is deep in arrears with the electric bill. The electric companies are "for profit" privately held entities, and fully accountable to stock holders. Certainly, gas and oil suppliers need to be paid for their product, and they get their money upfront from the utility companies. Also, those commodities are bought on the spot markets, and the price cannot be controlled by the insignificant and most corrupt Dominican government. People really should understand this fact.

While many here are honorable citizens and pay their monthly electric bill, it would be difficult and inefficient for the electric companies to pick and choose whom to deliver to and where to route electricity. Therefore, good people pay for the sins of the rotten ones. We all need to pay, starting with the government. Period.

It wasn't the article, my fine feathered friend, it was the way you tried to move the spotlight from the article to a future project no one is thinking about because there are greater significant matters to discuss , like why all of the sudden the contracts need to be reviewed and renegotiated, it was a good deal when leo was president. Now, the government once again wants to renege on a contract. Once again, TYPICAL of the PLD, doesn't everyone know that this is whats expected from this political party.

Leo has been traveling for 12yrs making it look like the republic is bringing on investors in order to get loans, now look, his act was just a clever ruse to get where he wanted to be and the republic gets screwed..

Here's the key to all evil -> "no SIN INFUNDIRLE SU PARTICULAR SELLO a dicha ejecución"

That in fact is a great deal ... the power plants have to pay high fines in case they are unavailable for dispatch! The government is very strict at this subject and does not accept any irregularities while the plants have to face high commercial risks such as non-payment or delayed payment by the distribution companies and/or the government.

tschotschua wrote: "All of the electric generations contracts must be reviewed"

Why should foreign investors lose money in the Dominican state being too stupid to run their own business? While the generating plants are competing, the distribution companies have no competition at all on the entire market and they are still incapable of reforming the distribution sector to increase efficiency and finally make a profit of the high electricity tariffs - this is pathetic

As for renegotiation of contracts---No way Jose. Honor the terms of the contracts and after they are fulfilled, negotiate better terms for the nation. But at least the country will be looked upon as having fulfilled its end of the contract and the international investors will take such steadfastness as a sign of growing maturity in the nation.
