Santo Domingo. – The power company ITABO, SA on Tuesday announced 132 megawatt generation unit ITABO II will be subjected to its annual mayor maintenance as part of a preventive inspection to maintain its availability, reliability and efficiency.
It said maintenance slated from November 10 to January 19 is included in the National Interconnected Electric System’s (SENI) program, coordinated with all industry players and government authorities. “The generating unit ITABO I continues to make its contribution to SENI of 128 MW, as well as the 34 MW San Lorenzo, which belongs to ITABO park, will be available for peak hours generator system.”
In a statement, ITABO said its II unit has been making its contributions to the country since 1988, serving 24 years from that date. “Both units I and II have had record breaking generation this year, seeking to contribute 1600 gigawatts by year end.
“The power company ITABO Inc. will invest US$5 million in this maintenance work for better performance of the ITABO II unit and thus further contribute to the country’s sustainable development and the stability of the national electricity system.”

Power companies like the ones in DR already have done the same in other countries, even in the USA. Don't you recall ENRON?
ENRON was intentionally creating the ROLLING BLACKOUTS in California by shutting down power plants due to "MAINTENANCE". The goal was to create the appearance of a low supply of energy and a HIGH DEMAND to push PRICES up!!!

How can you compare the occasional black-out in USA with much of the Banana Republic, where the power is off more than it is on, and nearly everyone has an inverter and a bank of batteries?
