Santo Domingo.- The business leader Manuel Corripio on Wednesday said president Danilo Medina has earned the right to implement the bill for the tax reform because, among other things, has shown a willingness toward rational in spending, and for transparency by revising provisions such as the Foreign Service payroll.

"After all the government needs more funds, and the population will demand that it does so. And doing more requires more resources, and I think in that manner president Danilo Medina’s government has earned the right for the reform to take effect," he said.

Corripio, after a meeting with executives who announced the grand opening of the Sambil Mall, said the tax reform is needed but notes that some changes must be done still.

He reiterated that the Government has shown signs of rational spending and notes transparency in the Public Works Concessions Law; government  payrolls in important agencies, where only six deputy ministers were designated in each. “In short, issues of transparency such as the allocation of quotas to import agricultural products."

Why are so many deputies required.

Could that be interpreted as an indictment of fact that those positions are rlargely ceremonial, since status is incomensurate with capability anyway.

A well run department or ministry should not require any more than one or two deputies to run effectively. Haven't they ever heard of the "lean operations"? Probably not.

He has the right to lump the fiscal irresponsibility on to the tax payer without lowering the over paid and far too many positions within the government...

How many people have he removed for corruption, not doing their job, job not needed or nepotism?

And the comedy continues!

So far, to me, Danilo has shown nothing other than a willingness to make promises.

Come on...be fair. The reason for 6 deputy ministers falls back on the level of education we have here...with the average adult having a grand total of 4.9 years of education. A shining example to the past efficiency of this country over the past 20 years.
We might as well hire a grade 6 class from middle North America to get things done.
