Santo Domingo.- The Government will submit to Congress, via the Senate, the tax reform bill at 1pm today amid complaints by some sectors who feel the piece jeopardizes them.
Although authorities have said that suggestions from ??the productive sectors were taken into account, the government reiterated it expects to raise around RD$53.0 billion (2.2% of GDP), the same amount it had initially planned.
Senate president Reinaldo Pared announced the creation of a joint congressional commission to expedite the work for approval this year.
In search of consensus, president Danilo Medina met separately in the National Palace with the financial, business and transport sectors, and producers of alcoholic beverages.

Sí, yo si soy partidaria de pagar impuestos justos que se administren con prudencia, a cambio de los que la sociedad reciba los servicios que competen al gobierno. Pero es una falta contra el país y un agravio a nosotros mismos, tolerar en silencio el despojo y los abusos a que nos someten con absoluto desparpajo.
