Santo Domingo.- The Dominican economy grew 3.9% from January to September, which Central Banker Hector Valdez Albizu calls satisfactory, given the slowdown in domestic demand associated with the uncertainty spurred by the pre and post-election period.
In a speech to mark the Central Bank’s 65th anniversary Tuesday, Valdez revealed that the country’s economic performance results from with an accumulated inflation, measured by the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of just 2.37% for the first three quarters.
"In the midst of this adverse international environment, there are many risks and vulnerabilities faced by developing economies like the Dominican Republic. However, this perspective highlights opportunities that we must seize in the light of our fundamentals and promoting a country strategy that maximizes our potential and makes viable the legitimate aspiration for greater socio-economic equity," the Central Banker said.
