Santo Domingo.- Starting next week the freight on farms products, soil tilling and rice cutting would jump 35 percent on skyrocketing prices on diesel, spare parts, tires, lubricants and other items used for that work.
The truckers of farm products and agro machinery grouped in Fenatragro made the announcement Wednesday, and warned that without the increase in fees, they would be forced to halt their services.
Fenatragro spokesman Roberto Martin Familia said the situation faced by agriculture truckers and machine operators with a jump in operating costs of 35% is unprecedented.
He blamed the Government for the high price on diesel, the fuel most used in farm production transport to market.
Familia requested an urgent meeting with President Danilo Medina to seek a solution.
