Santo Domingo. - Dominican Republic, Chile, Argentina, Peru and Colombia benefited the most from the sharp increase in foreign investment throughout the region in the first half, said a recent report by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
The sharp increase in foreign capital into those countries was an important contribution to the region’s 8% jump in the area’s investment registered in the first half, according to the ECLAC.
The report says in Dominican Republic’s case, the agency quoted regional investment by the beverage giant AB InBev, which acquired a controlling stake in the Dominican National Brewery (CDN) in the first half.
"Multinationals, most of which are based in developed countries, don’t find a good return in their land of origin and therefore wager more and more on the emerging world, including Latin America," the report says.

I suggest you visit the emergency room of any Dominican hospital or any Dominican morgue on a Saturday night and see what " irreparable damage" beer does to Dominicans.
Also the environmental impact of beer production far outweighs that of gold production, and is not subject to a fraction of the environmental regulation. You still have not produced a shred of evidence that Barrack Gold has done any pollution of the rivers, or any irreversible damage to the environment. Can you name one beer producer involved in re-forestation? Can you name one gold producer that isn't?
