Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina will announce Thursday the breadth of the tax reform the Executive Branch will submit to Congress in the coming days.
Medina will first present the proposed tax pact 11am Thursday, to the representatives of the Social Economic Council’s 50 entities, according to Economy minister Temistocles Montas, who said he expects the meeting will produce the consensus needed for the new tax reform.
In that regard Medina promised several labor union leaders who visited him in his National Palace office yesterday, that food staples will not be taxed.
Yesterday the president also met with representatives of banks to explain the tax reform’s details.
Some sectors including the opposition PRD party have said that the Government can get next year's Budget approved without creating or raising taxes.
