Santo Domingo.- The Senate will likely debate the tax reform bill on Friday, with some changes, after the bicameral committee’s consultation process where a wide cross section of sectors stated their position, mostly business.

The committee is slated to meet with government technicians for 4pm Wednesday, to decide which of the proposals can be accepted, for which the commissioners will remain in permanent session.

Reinaldo Pared, president of the Senate and of the Commission said it would be folly to predict the possible changes to the proposal, but according to diariolibre.com, the NGOs wouldn’t be taxed.

During yesterday’s meetings, industry, retail, banking, hotel leaders and even members of the grass roots Tax Justice Movement, who called for the "black Tuesday" protest, stated their views to the committee and suggestions to president Danilo Medina’s proposed tax package.
