Santo Domingo.- A deputy of the pro-government PRSC party on Friday made a proposal not usual from a veteran politico such  as himself: A 50 percent cut of the funds assigned to the political parties.

Víctor-Ito-Bisonó Bisonó, deputy and senior leader of the PRSC, said the cut from 700 million pesos which the parties receive annually to RD$350 million will help surmount the fiscal deficit and lighten the burden on the population during the next three years, when there are no elections.

In a statement, the lawmaker said with the new tax reform there’s a need to look for ways to cut spending, added that his proposal would save the government a total of RD$1.05 billion over the next three years.

Dreamkiller:

We are all still waiting to see one, just one example of Josean supporting the PRD.

CAN'T FIND IT CAN YOU?

Know why?

He has never supported them.

People like you believe that if you repeat a lie loud enough and enough times it becomes the truth.

Maybe it works that way in your world.

Bisonó is just blowing hot air. No chance in hell this would be approved by the legislators, and he knows it. So he is just voicing populist measures, to attract personal attention for his ambitious presidential run for the PRSC in 2016.

Ito Bisonó is simply articulating conservatism which is the correct way the D.R needs to go, Why should the public subsidized political parties???

Good idea that will never happen..

cutting it by 100% will only lead to the parties being 100% owned by corporations and the rich... and polices will reflect the ownership.. eg USA...

The moral proposal would be to cut ALL taxpayer funds to political parties.

I agree, but knowing how the legislative branch works, Mr. Bisonó knows very well that it will be a cold day in hell, when any milk from the elections cow will be taken away from the politicians.

So you don't believe in free will?
All voters cannot be trusted because they will vote for whoever has the most TV commercials?

If you believe that you might as well stick a fork in democracy because it is done.

I believe in Democracy not hijacked by corporate interests, lobbyists or any special interest groups willing to pay to play...

Or is that to hard for you to understand that it's not democracy when the group with the most money wins... But is a sad fact that it happens far to much and far to long world wide..

EG USA.. that means both major political parties working for their major donors first and the people second...

Elections to should limited to 60 days.

Candidates should be required to collect nominating petitions with a cadre of organized volunteers, with everybody responsible to paying for their own expenses. All benefice candidates i.e. those being duly nominated via public petition must be required to participate in public debates broadcasted via public radio and TV for free as a public service.

No advertising of any type should be permitted during that 60 day period and certainly no public funds of any type. All inaugurations of public projects would stop 30 days prior to the election.
