The business leaders were greeted by Presidency Chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo, and immediately started the meeting.

It is the Dominican people that have to rise up and go to National Palace and declare themselves on strike until a forensic accounting is done of all the governments resources by an international forensic accounting firm.

NO NEW TAXES UNTIL THE PUBLIC HAS S FULL ACCOUNTING AND ACCOUNTABILTY IS ESTABLISHED!

That's because it's hitting their rich kids.... Beers tax now based on sales not only on alcohol level, la cerveceria was keeping all $$$ for the LIGHT beer sales...

The 1% to the dividends of savings/CDs will force them to put their millions to work, generating jobs!

The 1% on their fancy cars (Maybach, Ferraris, Porsche, Lamborghini, Benz/BMW, Range Rovers....)... now they will pay over a 100G yearly.

Ojala that Danilo se ponga strong!

Will Lie-onel and his Fiscal Henchmen get away with this Blatant Crime?

“Tejera: the fiscal deficit and the tax patch proposal are a great abuse”

"The representatives of the former Government should respond and explain why and how this disaster occurred."

"There must be sanctions for those responsible, because they violated the budget Act and the Constitution"

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.-Economist Eduardo J. Tejera said that the fiscal deficit of the Central Government, is of 6.5% of GDP or RD$ 148,000 million, and the consolidated state deficit is 8% of the GDP or RD$ 188 billion, which constitutes a great abuse and distortion of any concept of transparency and fiscal accountability.

The PLD and the Government and former President Fernández knew this situation and in ten months had not reported it to the nation, as it is done in a country which operates under the rule of law." It was a mugging, he said.

Well Josean after all your posts I now have to agreed with you on this one because it make no sense what it happening here now. The first thing that the government needs to do is cut the by 65% the number of vice-consuls that this country has overseas because they are not respresenting the country the way it should be and also cut the number of government employees by 25% and also do a check list on all government public works contract to take away the money that has been overquoting by the companies that are doing the work. If they only apply these three measures I think that we could save a least 35 to 40 billions pesos.

@Josean,

Something not mathematically correct here: """is of 6.5% of GDP or RD$ 148,000 million, and the consolidated state deficit is 8% of the GDP or RD$ 188 billion, which constitutes a great abuse and distortion of any concept of transparency and fiscal accountability.""

If 6.5% of GDP equals RD$148M, then 8% of GDP cannot equal RD$188B, without some exponential correlation factor.

Which is it? Please clarify.

The people agree with joseans’s :

“NO New TAXES until a FULL Transparent Audit is conducted by an Internationally Recognized Forensic Accounting Firm!!”

“Before paying more taxes, the people call for punishing the corrupt”

“People understand that Danilo Medina must begin to "correct what is wrong; corruption", before creating more taxes and increasing those that already exist”

The tax reform announced by the Government of President Danilo Medina has received the rejection of the population, especially among the poor and middle class, whom cannot no longer continue tolerate the high cost of living combined with the lack of public services and the irritating corruption of senior officials and leaders of the Dominican Liberation Party who ruined the country with Leonel Fernández.

“More taxes? But this country is falling apart! Definitely not, no new taxes! ", said a citizen interviewed by Acento.com.do in a random poll."

"They cannot more raise taxes, because corruption is what is killing us."

"Collect more taxes to give more money to a corrupt official who is sitting doing nothing?" "No way!"

These Tax increases are completely immoral in view of the theft at the public trough by corrupt politicians and their cronies.

Medina is nothing but the cleaning crew to clean Leonels mess, take all the blame and set him up for reelection when Lie-onel comes back with a big promise to "lower taxes".

What a Banana Republic Joke this country is! I would be so ashamed to be Dominican, I would rather be Nigerian than Dominican- at least they have oil.
