How can this be true ? The inflation rate is in the area of 6.33 % based upon 2010 figures, up from 1.4 % for 2009 and the upward trend is continuing. Suspect that somebody is cooking the books prior to the election. If you want to get a real feel on the economy just follow the retail price of a pound of chicken.

There is not the slightest doubt that unprocessed food, such as fruit and vegetables and drinks have gone down in price over the past few months ,,,but the price of chicken I think has slightly risen ..I think it is only seasonal

Ricky,
If you check your supermarket receipt, you may find that "unprocessed food, such as fruit and vegetables" is only a minor component of your weekly living cost anyway. Very misleading.

Ricky's job is to be very misleading.

He does it well.

Ricky:

How about some misleading statements about why the IMF has walked away from us? This may lead to other lending institutions (World Bank for example) ceasing to fund our spending frenzy. Please don't tell us that the IMF pulled out because the PLD refused to raise electric prices. (They would have, and will, but not right before an election. Please tell us where all the money went that we did get from them.

It is not at all misleading ,,if you want to buy processed food in tins and cartons then there has been no price fall ,,in fact I have found most things like tuna in tins to have risen a little but I buy nearly all my food unprepared and it is cooked in my home ...this is the practice for most dominicans

This is not an article about the IMF or World Bank and I am not privy to the workings of the central bank here
