Santo Domingo. - The Government’s foreign policy and investment cabinet on Tuesday affirmed it has bolstered international relations in the last eight years, spurring higher exports and attracting new investors.
Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales and Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD) director Eddy Martinez affirmed that the foreign policy opened new niche markets to export products such as bananas, rum and cacao to Europe, “with a volume superior to 700 million Euros.”
Martinez said the country exported more than US$8.0 billion in products to various markets during 2011, to as many as 130 nations.
Speaking in the panel “Rendering of accounts to the Dominican people,” the official added that the country managed to attract more than US$2.5 billion in foreign investment in the last eight years.
