Santo Domingo. - The Government’s Transport Reform Office (Opret) on Sunday announced the inaugural of Santo Domingo Metro’s (subway) 2nd line before August 16, and normal operation as soon as four months.
Opret assistant director Leonel Carrasco said service will be free for people who want to visit the International Book Fair 2012 on Maximo Gomez Av., on the first six cars which arrived Saturday from Barcelona.
He said once the first stage is completed 45 cars –worth 120,000 euros each- will ply the route from the avenues Luperon in the west side of the city to Padre Castellanos in the west.
Carrasco said 2nd Line riders to the Fair can take the train at the Maria Montez station, on the Luperón, and transfer at the Juan Pablo Duarte station, in Olympic center, and from there the First Line (North-South), to the Plaza de la Cultura.

Another metro to aliviate tthe transit in Sto dgo is a very good news..
More people can go to school and work on the regular basics

I was making the point that the masses of photos of pristine beaches on this site, and in tourist brochures are misleading, and that in fact, many Dominican beaches are strewn with garbage, left by visitors, as well as washed up by the tide. I know what I am talking about, having visited many beaches on both the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts, and also been involved in a number of clean-up campaigns.
The photos I posted trace the source and composition of the garbage that washes up on the beaches. These are essential steps in rectifying the problem.
