TRENTEON, N.J.- The state of New Jersey will gain an important enforcement tool with the ability to establish and collect child support from parents living in the Dominican Republic under the terms of a landmark agreement to be signed by its Minister of Justice Wednesday.

Radhamés Jiménez and Department of Human Services (DHS) Commissioner Jennifer Velez said the Landmark Reciprocal Agreement, which becomes effective immediately, will be attested by New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa.

“The Reciprocal Agreement will compel New Jersey and the Dominican Republic to assist each other with ensuring the support of children by their parents within their jurisdictions,” the officials said in a statement, adding that currently, there are 536 active cases in the New Jersey Child Support System for which one party resides in the Dominican Republic.

lol.....Child support from the dominican republic to jersey ? On a salary of 300 USD a month ? What is it, 17% from each pay check ? What if the parent is a deportee, are they going to be deported back to the states for unpaid child support?

The DR needs to enforce the return of children illegally removed from the US.

This is great, I am guessing that fathers that are living here and have children in NJ flew in on Con-Air...

Most them are finding jobs in the many call centers here, they make about RD$100.00 per hour.

They couldn't really pay very much based on what they make here.

I guess something is better than nothing?

Josean,
There is a saying in Australia - "DNA before you pay". One Family Court Judge, Alistair Nicholson, tried to make it a criminal offense to make a DNA test on a child without the consent of the mother, or a Family Court Order. There is a campaign to have every child DNA tested to confirm paternity, before issuing birth certificates. Understandably it has been blocked by the feminazzi.
