SANTO DOMINGO.- A soldier of the Presidential Guard posted beneath a bridge on the Las Americas highway prior to the passing of president Leonel Fernandez’s motorcade, yesterday threatened to shoot a newspaper Diario Libre team headed by the reporter Ronny Mateo.
The guard pointed his rifle at the newspaper’s pickup truck and threatened to shoot the journalists if they tried to take his photo, after telling them they couldn’t get on the highway because they risked being shot. "Go ahead chicken sh-ts, you’ll know who’s a man if you take my picture.”
When a Presidency’s Traffic agent instructed the reporters to join the motorcase caravan, the guard protested while still aiming his weapon at the vehicle.

Did anyone think as to what the orders were given to this Presidential guard. He may have been "ordered" not to allow anyone to pass to the highway until the Presidential motorcade goes by and beyond the point. If he had such orders and I assumed he did; it should be pointed out his manner to communicate the message to the reporter(s) lacked professionalism. Also, you can be ascertained there is no communication between/among gov't agencies regarding security measures/policies and chain of command as the Presidential traffic agent countermanded the guard's order. The guard was unwise to allow a "traffic" agent to countermand his orders.
The Presidential security advisors should review this incident to see all that went wrong.
