Santo Domingo.- Industry and Commerce vice minister Salvador Rivas announced Thursday that more than 30 natural gas stations will start operating nationwide this year, calling it an “exponential” jump in the fuel’s use.
He said 11 natural gas stations are currently operating in Greater Santo Domingo, Santiago and Bonao, as well as in other cities.
He said the growing demand has prompted the authorities to issue permits to install stations in practically the entire country.
In that regard, the Ministry’s Fuels director Rafael Lopez, said for passenger vehicles the use of natural gas has meant significant savings, compared with other fuels, especially with the latest jump in international crude prices.
