Santo Domingo.- A Dominican impresario came up with the idea and decided it would be his toughest professional challenge; to stage in July the most ambitious Latin music festival in New York in a century.

Felix Cabrera said he’ll bring together a dozen Hispanic artists, Dominicans Prince Royce and Toño Rosario among them. “No one has done something so ambitious in New York City, we want to institutionalize this event to stage it every year.”

“Just as the Presidente (beer) Latin Music Festival attracts Dominican Republic’s attention, we also feel the megalopolis’ Hispanic community will make New York’s Latin Festival its own.”

The performances will take place July 14 and 15 in Citi Field stadium, home to the Mets, in Queens, which can hold 54,000 people.

Cabrera, quoted by listin.com.do, said he hopes that tours from Dominican Republic will be organized to attend the event, whose headliners he affirms will include the Cuban-American pop and Latin star, Gloria Estefan.

Josean,

While I am sure that event that took place way before my time was great, I understand that what Mr. Cabrera is alluding to is the fact that there has not been a Latin festival of the magnitude he is proposing in NYC's history and no, the yearly festival on 116th does not count.

Dont Be Silent,

Not everything has to be politicized. Get a life.
