Santo Domingo.-Two Brazilian companies pre-qualified in the call for tenders by Dominican Republic’s state–owned electric utility (CDEEE), to install plants with 1,500 megawatts total output.

The two preselected companies -Brazilian giants Odebrecht, and Andrade Gutierrez- don’t currently operate in the electrical system, and are known as builders instead.

In an April 24 ceremony the CEO of the CDEEE, Celso Marranzini, had announced that 10 other companies had also pre-qualified.

I've said it before and I will say it again.

Since Odebrecht is given every big contract (which they fulfill wonderfully), why don't we just let them run the government also. They would probably do a hell of a lot better job than what we now have.

Total priority should be to save energy not degrade the environment, important to tourism, with yet more plants and cost of importing fuel is horrendous.

What good is it, if the government can't provide meters for the customer because the electrical sector can't afford them.

There is lots of waste of everything in DR that shouldn't be. From electricity to solid waste to water.

Energy conservation should be the first priority in energy budget. What good use is to keep building electrical plants after plants when so much electricity or power gets wasted?

Homes and buildings should use the natural sunlight DR has all year around.
I mean if houses and buildings aren’t design better to incorporate more skylights and strategically placed windows to allow more sun light in. That will reduce power need to great extend.

Smart Meter Focus ARX-SD

DR should use Focus ARX-SD Electrical Meters they are read remotely, the meter reader does not need to go inside a home to look at he meter just pass buy he/she knows how much electricity is used in a home.

And Brazil will also help out with two plants, each 300 megawatts.

"Rousseff spoke during a meeting with Medina at Planalto Palace, where the Dominican president elect requested Brazil’s assistance to definitively resolve the decades old difficulties in the energy supply including the construction of two plants that produce 300 megawatts each."Brazil is going to help the President of the Dominican Republic very decisively to seek a solution to its energy problem."

Mr Marranzini is one of the best we ever had or could have. He does not need that post since he

has business in Guatemala and a professional by trade in his own field. I think he is doing a grate

job compared to the other idiot before him who had every one on the payroll.

But doing the unspeakable, a media campaign to keep sacrificing himself in the position.

Success is measured by results, not to say that it has done nothing indelicate, just talking about management, had promised the President to eliminate the subsidy in 2012 as we saw in the press, and oil of more than 100 dollars the bariil descended below 80, SUBSIDY yet the increase and we are mid-year. INSTALL NEW GENERATION IS NOT CHEAP TO BLOCKADE IN YOUR MANAGEMENT.

Efficient new generation is what is making the new president.
BID mention was made after three, years in office, and would cease hands tied to the new government because it would start to generate in 2016 just when the new management

All that was brought about if you recall, before they started building the Metro,"that enogh power was needed" to push DR into the 21st century and parallel to the Metro ,this amount of power was needed.
No one paid any attention to us because they had in their mind Metro- mania ,not knowing that in
order to have a metro power was the main factor.
I had a guy telling us that it will work with diferent power (non conventional). To my understanding
you either have AC or DC energy. What he meant was solid state ,still needs power for tracksion.
pumps,illumination,signal,exaust fans,air condition,elrctric steps,electric elevators.
Had they started constructing the power plants then, by now it would had been finished. That is the way to plan things in the modern world.,Not tackling one project at a time from line#1 to #2 #3,
#4,#5. In the mean time the nation is providing all its energy just to have a no-functional project
