Santo Domingo.- La Vega province deputy Elpidio Infante on Wednesday said the company Falcondo Xstrata Nickel is exploiting Loma Miranda without the Environment Ministry permit.

He also slammed the Lower Chamber’s special committee for in his view having shelved the proposed resolutions to protect the mountainous area, the source of several major rivers.

The lawmaker of the opposition PRD party said the pollution emanating from Miranda could threaten the health of residents in the central cities of La Vega, Bonao and San Francisco.

Infante, speaking in a meeting between legislators and Environment officials in Congress, called on the various sectors to deal with the conflict by assuming positions against the mining activity.

as is his stock in trade, he does not let objectivity get in the pathway of reason. instead of waiting to find out if there is any truth to the accusation, he instinctively sides with the businessman. what a loser.

Only an idiot would think a publicly traded, Swiss mining company would proceed with project without the proper permits.

More than 100 mining companies are operating without licenses in forest areas across 471,000 hectares in Indonesia, reports The Jakarta Post.

what is so special about the Swiss? other countries have illegal mining operations, all over the world. what are the Swiss? some special species, that they do not engage in anything illegal? you are the biggest fool in this site, bar none.
