No one cares, the fuel is over priced to begin with. The dominicans are paying for something that is given free to a certain few.

Should double the price of fuel. Stupid low price compared with Turkey and many other countries.

How can DR, not an oil producing state, ever be competitive selling fuel at bargain basement rates.

15 $ a gallon would be sensible right away. Fuel efficient trains and land trains cold do much to build the DR economy.

@RobertoJose,

Definitely agree with you. I don't know who gets it for free, but definitely agree that's over priced, and the worse part is, gas sold in the D.R. is altered, mixed with water and other stuff that makes it stink the way it does. Gas in the U.S is cheaper and of better quality. Where my grandmother lives in the South, gas costs between 2.60 and 2.80! If you multiply that by 40 (I suppose that's around the exchange rate for DOP), then that's RD104- RD112, HALF OF THE PRICE!! Really?
Even in the city where I was living before, and where my mom lives, which is up north, it's 3.80 for the most expensive gas, that's RD152, still way cheaper.

US is a gasoline producer. DR is not. All has to b imported. Good to encourage people to be economical and use gars that do 80 mpg,. Trains and mmoore buses are also needed. Restrictions on parking and congestion charges are also ways to encourage people to travel by mero bus etc. and save the environment.

Yes, but even then. It doesn't matter that D.R doesn't produce. D.R buys gas from Venezuela, and both governments have an agreement, in which Venezuela sells D.R. cheaper gas in order to help ht economy. Leonel doubles the price of gas and so that remaining percentage is his, he makes over 50% of all the sales of gas! Gas should be way cheaper here, and it shouldn't be affected by whether or not gas goes up in the U.S, because we get gas waaaay cheaper.

Gas should be way more expensive. Loans must be taken out to pay for it and when used tn motor vehicles there is a horrendous social cost. More buses, trains, metro are the answer combined with lower private vehicle use.
