SANTO DOMING.- Consumer Protection Agency (ProConsumidor) director Altagracia Paulino on Monday said they’ll ask the salamis makers evaluated in their study to authorize her to disclose the names of factories which sell bad quality sausages.

"I don’t dare say it because I’m restricted by law, but if they allow me to publish it, as public pressure demands, I’ll publish it, but they have to authorize me to do so," she said.

She revealed that the sausage-makers Induveca, Procesadora de Carnes KARNÚ, Productos Chef,  Sigma Alimentos Dominicana, Productos Unidos Santa Cruz, Alonso Farmas, Stefanutti, Embutidos Quisqueya, La Ganadera, AGROTEL and Hermanos Taveras were aware of the results of the study prior to being released to the media.

When asked about the losses the sausage factories claim on alleged fall in local demand, Paulino warned the companies to come clean. "Instead of acting like they're doing, what they have to do is publish the results, if they are complying then publish it."

Paulino added that when there’s a health to and safety risk she is required to take the product off the market.
