SANTO DOMINGO.- Despite the more than RD$1.0 billion owed ??by the State-owned Electric Utility (CDEEE) to power companies, the government says the bill to costumers will not rise.
Utility CEO Ruben Bichara made the announcement during a break in the meeting with president Danilo Medina and other electricity sector representatives.
He said in addition to the debt, the meeting will deal with the damage to the energy system caused the tropical Storm Isaac’s effect on Dominican territory, a figure which has yet to be specified.
As to the storm’s consequences, Bichara said, 89% of the energy deficiencies have been resolved in the South region.
Also attending the meeting which began 10:30am were the heads of the distributors Edenorte, Julio Cesar Correa; Edesur, Luis Ernesto De Leon and Hipolito Nunez for Edeste.

This is the most pathethic thing about this Banana Republic. They can't even pay their electric Bill but they think they are a civilized society! What a joke!
No wonder Lie-onel left the country, maybe he will stay in exile!
