Danilo,
We have placed all our hopes in your fiery words pronounced during the inauguration ceremony; please do not let us down. We have heard countless false promises for far too long, it is time to make things right. If you want to leave your mark on the pages of our history, then follow the path of righteousness and give us what we have never had: a patriotic government that works for the benefit of the Dominican people. I have to say, although it is maybe too soon to label your government, you have certainly made some disappointing moves such as leaving the same old faces run the ship. I don’t say this because of Vincho, I actually think he can be useful, but in the areas of education and finance there are very few new faces.

"New Governor of Santiago is a businesswoman friend Danilo Medina"

"With the official announcement, seven other PLDers and allies who lobbied for this position, will have to change their siights, at least for now"

"Toribio, the new Governor,a businesswoman in the sectors linked to sales of vehicles and gambling, was one of the first people to inaugurate a support office for the now President of the Republic, Danilo Medina."

Saint Danilo, will this obvious PAYBACK mean a continued ban on the import of older used cars and more gambling BANCAS?

"Con el anuncio oficial, otros siete peledeístas y aliados que cabildearon este cargo, tendrán que cambiar de objetivo, al menos por ahora"

I was right ,we are far from a true Democracy as I previously had pointed out .In no other LA countries the president appoints its Governors, Senators or Deputies. These are elected spots from their locality & know their needs. This is is the follow up of Trujillato.I guess it is simplier this way, gives the President (absolute dictatorial power) ! FREE ELECTIONS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE DEMOCRACY,it just puts a bandage on it, to pasify the ignorants.
In my previous postings I had mentioned it and this is the outcome of the infamous METRO's national debt ,done under no Provincial representation list to say Governatorial's but party line.
Even Hugo Chavez has a better national representative government.

Mr Josean you still did not get back to me as to the outcome of Mr Toncoso (carrieer foreign minister and diplomat). For what I can see it was taken over by the ex-president LF. If this is so
there is no change in DR gvt.

Mr. Rancier,

Your batting consistently over 500!

Even though you were already in my Hall of Fame!

As to Moralito I think he is only is a symbolic foreign minister he will be overshadowed by Kissinger Fernandez during the next 4 years!

The Next President in 2016 speaks!

“Guillermo Moreno: Medina is a prisoner of the interests of Leonel”

"The President has before him two paths: continue trapped in this network of interests." For example, encourage impunity for former officials of the government, many of which are today reappointed, or he leads a process of reversal. "There is the dilemma," said Moreno

“SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic-The political leader Guillermo Moreno said that "President Danilo Medina is trapped in the networks of interests that led him to power", so his Government "will be more of the same" in combating corruption and providing solutions to the main problems of the masses of the Dominican.”

“The former presidential candidate of the Alianza País party, argued also that the placement of the doctor Marino Vinicio Castillo as the head of the General Directorate of Ethics and Fighting Government Corruption is the best proof that Medina has opted for impunity because the officer is a partner of those assumed to be corrupt in the Cabinet of Leonel Fernandez.”

Absolutely, Mr. Thelmo!
To be simply appointed, it rewards supporters, and cronies to positions with no inkling of what the territorial needs are or the willingness to work hard to make a difference. These are political seats that should be won by the local people's vote.

In any case, there are too many provinces for such a small nation. Most should be merged to form bigger ones. four or five, should be ideal.. The former provinces can retain political say by morphing into "counties". These counties can push for better infrastructure, including schools, clinics, electricity, etc.
It would make for a much more localized and democratic system.

Ron :

Thanks for seeing it my way.
Original there weren;t that many provinces. The most there were, was 9 but as the nation grew in population wise so did the BOTELLAS political apointees, for lucrative positions and pay.

These was not created by CHAPITA but Balaguer when the pay was smaller less than $2,000 pesos per month=to todays US$2,000.The politicians did not have a chauffer or an official vehicle at his disposal or gas card or GORILLAS guardung them 24/7 as they do now.
