Santo Domingo.- The secretary general of Dominican Republic’s ruling PLD party Wednesday said a tax reform is more than imminent, because in his view the government needs money.

Reinaldo Pared also said the Government is interested in taking the energy by the horns, despite opposition from various sectors to correct that evil.

He called on the sectors which request not to be levied by a new tax reform not to get ahead of themselves, because everything depends on the agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"Everything will depend on the agreement reached ??with the sectors, even after everyone’s opinion is heard, including Congress’, which ultimately approves it," said the also President of the Senate.

Pared, interviewed in the Senate, noted that Dominican Republic’s tax burden is only 13%, something he called unusual in Latin America, and affirms it should be raised by 4%.
