Santo Domingo.-  After intense debate the Chamber of Deputies yesterday approved the bill to regulate the metal and scrap metal exports, 94 votes to 9, with 37 abstentions.

The legislation which now goes to the Senate gives companies a one-year deadline to regulate their situation.

The lawmakers split into those who oppose the ban on the export of used batteries and those who say they should be sold abroad to ingrease foreign currency and help rid the highly noxious lead.

Opposition PRD party deputy for the National District Carlos Gabriel Garcia, who wroted the bill, said some lawmakers want to benefit companies that sell used batteries, which in his view jeopardizes the national interest, and accused that sector of seeking to avert that law’s regulations.

For Pelegrin Castillo, pro-government NPD deputy for the National District, only what can be recycled should be exported.

There we go......Instead of prosecuting the criminals just regulated the law abiding businesses and push out those pesky small guys. That will help the economy

Law Abiding !!!!!!! If it weren't for those businesses accepting stolen metals, there wouldn't be any potential criminals to prosecute.... I have always said and will always say " People like you should be waken-up in the middle of the night, dragged out of bed and hauled away" like in the olden days.

You're on the wrong side Ant-knee...This is not a police state and it shouldn't be considered as one either.

Again another fine example of put a band aid on it....Recycling is a very good business and a way to keep the country clean but with all the poor and uneployed metal theft is not going to stop any time soon. They can do like is done here in the US ID and picture taken when selling scap metals. I know that there's always going to be curuption but fine the companies who buy the stolen scap and enforce it..

RobertoJose,

Are you stating that ALL scrap metal companies are involved in illegal activities?

Can you prove that?

Do you have any evidence at all or are you just pulling it out of you ass like most of your "facts"?

First of all, you said they aren't....you prove that they are not.

You see, that's where you and I differ Ant, I'm stating the obvious, I never state the facts. Facts are between the originators not the media.... What needs to be coming out of any ass, is your head.

I didn't have any facts on that mining contract back then and look what came up to a boil the other day.....Where were you, I didn't see you defend the mining company and the contract..... Again Ant-knee, you're on the wrong side.

Like Big Pun would say "YOU HAVE NO WINS IN MI CASA!!!!!!" but, please continue, I enjoy confusing you. You don't know if you're going backwards or forwards.

RobertoJose,

So you got.......Nothing?

Pretty sad.

BTW I am still waiting for that proof about Barrick Gold or any other current mining operation in the DR.

BobbyJoe,

Are you high? The media has been against the mines and the Metal recyclers since day one. The person who is believing the media lies is you.

But keep on with the personal insults and lame attempts to change the subject and I will just keep on waiting for you to actually provide some proof......all the while basking in my superiority!

Love that people bring up incidents that happen over 1/2 a century ago. Another case showing how liberalism is a mental illness.....They can't live in the reality of Today.

It is unfortunate for the DR that a growing and productive industry will now be under the control of a few politically connected individuals who are adept at playing the media and masses like a cheap violin.
People like Josie and Bobby-Joe get all warm and fuzzy thinking that what they are saying is right when in fact they are playing right into the hands of the very same people they claim to despise.

I'm not changing any subject with you Ant, just catching up with the previous disagreements.

You are definitely smoking Ant, these articles bashing mining contracts and method of extracting just started to come out. As a matter of fact, show me an article before leo vacated the presidency that condemns any of the contracts signed under his watch and I'll apologies tooya.

BTW, you still have man boobs from eating that genetically modified stuff you so dearly defend.

It has to be that way, maybe now you will change your tune...
