Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina ordered the immediate transfer to the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) all government lands designated under land reform for rural settlements, to title them under the names of the beneficiaries.
Agriculture minister Luis R. Rodriguez the National Assets(BN), National Housing Aid (INAVI) and the State Sugar Council are among the agencies which should cede lands to the IAD
He said the indecision during several administrations has been a hurdle to achieve the titling, which in his view stokes the country’s rural and urban poverty.
He said a recent study found 1.8 million urban lots without titles and 1.6 million rural ones .
He said once Medina took office he designated a commission to set the schedule to issue titles to at least 35,000 agrarian reform settlers and another 400,000 from other programs.
Rodriguez noted that regarding other government lands in private hands, surveys and subdivisions will be conducted for the formal transfer of such deeds to legal occupants.
He added that to materialize the project, Medina planst to meet with Supreme Court president Mariano German, and provide the resources to improve the performance of its Real Estate Jurisdiction.

it is a miracal . i prayed yesterday and asked God .to put an end to the nightmare of land disputes and and cheating by crooked lawyers.. ive had to endure for the last 4 or 5 years. now it seems a good pesident. has decided to really take his vocation seriously. its very good news to me,.

When the ONLY OTHER ALTERNATIVE is the PRD, even YOU, JUANB, were moved to say Medina was preferable to the return or Second Coming of El Burro Hippo. And that's what it boils down to: whenever only two realistic alternatives or choices are matched up, it IS preferable to vote in the lesser of the evils.
