Santo Domingo.- National Commercial Businesses Organization (Onec) president Antonio Ramos warned Sunday that the government should first discuss the mechanism to be used to cut public spending before starting to tackle the proposed fiscal pact.

Interviewed on Santo Domingo TV, the business leader called government spending the country’s main problem.  "I repeat again; we’ve wasted more than one year with this issue, every time we talk about comprehensive tax reform we’re always talking about a review of costs first."

Ramos and other business leaders have insisted that the governtment concentrate its efforts on cutting spending.
