Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD) and the National Supermarkets Association (NSA) of New York City on Tuesday agreed to work to increase the presence of Dominican products in the U.S.
CEI-RD director Jean Alain Rodriguez, after signing the agreement with David Corona of the NSA in president Danilo Medina’s office, stressed its importance for exporters, since the Association’s members purchase more than US$8.0 billion annually.
He said both parties agree to conduct the necessary studies to identify the products, purchase volumes and prices.
In a National Palace press conference accompanied by about 20 NSA members, the official said the agreement culminates several months of work that began with president Danilo Medina’s visit to New York.
Rodriguez said the agreement came on Medina’s instruction, added that Dominican producers will benefit from the large number of products they can market.

What products? The coffee and avocado is good here and marketable. Probably bananas and to a smaller degree platano and yucca (not highly consumed in the U.S.).
Rice is cheaper in the U.S. The meat is too lean here and has trouble getting past regulations, the salami is one of the DRs best products but has a long way to go before it would meet import requirements (especially seeing that they can't even get past the local scandal on the product).
Seems to me the DR's best et is it's tourism once they figure out how to keep the areas clean and the tourists feeling safe.
