SANTO DOMINGO.- The Public Works Ministry plans to expedite traffic on the country’s three major thoroughfares, with road circuits covering from the Duarte and Bosch bridges to Punta Cana and Ubero Alto in the east, to be concluded by December.
For the south region the agency plans bypasses at Bani, and Azua- Enriquillo-Pedernales, considered a critical link as evidenced by the recent storms, and other phenomena, which could affect the area, as well as to spur its progress.
As to the north region Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo announced repairs on the Duarte Highway, the Santiago bypass, and the widening of the Puerto Plata-Navarrete road to four lanes, all of which figure as a government priority to boost the economy and tourism,
The official said the east region project aims to cut travel time from there to the Colonial Zone to just one-and-a-half hours, and improve road safety.
Quoted by the Corripio Communications Group with other Ministry officials, Castillo said the nearly concluded toll plaza at La Vega has been discarded.

The lane increase from Navarrete to Puerto Plata should have been done more than ten years ago.
Since they are at it , then increase the road lanes for Moca to Santiago and Puerto Plata to Cabarete, that has been called for many years.
And Pay more attention to Cabarete, build some roads there. Cabarete is one the best beaches in the country, with a bright touristic future, and it seems to have been abandoned by the government.
