Santo Domingo.- Former Brazil president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will visit the country Friday, invited by the American Chamber of Commerce as guest speaker in its monthly luncheon, at the Hotel Embajador.

The former president will dictate the conference titled "Jobs and development as a solution to the crisis."

The activity starts 12 noon when government officials, business leaders, politicians and other personalities are expected to attend.

Lula, voted Brazil’s president for the first time in January 2003, and reelected five years later, is credited with pulling more than 40 million Brazilians out of poverty and the middle class’ ensuing growth.
