NEW YORK.-  Any new immigration reform pushed by U.S. president Barack Obama and the preliminary bipartisan agreement announced Monday will benefit the thousands of Dominicans who qualify.

Dominicans by the thousands have entered and stayed illegally without U.S. residency documents, while others have let their visas expire, falling into the same category.

Dominican community groups had been mobilizing for several years in Washington, to help strike a compromise and the deal outlined yesterday by a bipartisan committee on Monday.

The Dominicans, together with Mexicans, form part of the firs legion of undocumented immigrants into the U.S., and now welcome yesterday’s announcement by several senators, while in New York many began to celebrate and called relatives back home to share the news.

This article is proof that DT is full of idiot reporters who are obviously VERY misinformed and conduct no adequate research as to which groups make up the largest groups of illegal immigrants in the U.S.; Yes, Mexicans are the majority but after them would be Salvadorians, Indians, Chinese, Central & South Americans --- all whom far outnumber Dominicans in regards to illegal immigration to the U.S.

"reporters who are obviously VERY misinformed and conduct no adequate research as to which groups make up the largest groups of illegal immigrants in the U.S"

They didn't even have to do research, just looking at a map would easily show you who make up the largest group of illegal immigrants. Even illegal Canadians slightly outnumber illegal Dominicans in the US.

The unspoken reality about the US Congress being spineless when it comes to immigration cheats is that DC, for whatever reason, has always been scared spitless of Mexico. In the District of Criminals, immigration is synonymous with Mexican.

anthonyc,

The BIPARTISAN immigration reform bill drummed up by the US Senate was co-drafted and sponsored by REPUBLICANS, including John Mc Cain and Florida's own Tea Party darling Marco Rubio. Kind of makes your statement blaming the "Dems" kind of, well, you know, knee jerk reactionary and uniformed. Same as most all of your statements.

That's such an ignorant statement Mr C, 4 Dems, 4 Reps proposed a comprehensive immigration reform, and actually, it was GW Bush who tried first to deal with this issue.

Approval rating for US congress is 9% as we speak, perhaps the Republicans are going to benefit the must from this, they realized that without the Latino vote they are not going to have another president in the WH, if you don't believe me ask Marco Rubio, because he is going to need more than the Gusano vote to win.

Ummmmmm...what?

"... the preliminary bipartisan agreement announced Monday will benefit the thousands of Dominicans who qualify...."

Okay - I get it. I understand that the ‘illegals’ will benefit from some legislation. But, wouldn't it be nice to have published a synopsis of - oh, I don't know. Let's start with - HOW???

This news - if reported accurately - is merely about intent. Nothing says this so-called reform has been passed and put into action. Nor does it say that this is a singular bill. It just says, "...Any new immigration reform..." Why are people celebrating?

This article contains a load of sizzle but no steak. No wait! It's not steak at all. It's just a big ole link of feces laden salami.

Wake up DT !!

Please do not associate quality Latin people with scumbags like illegal Dominicans. They have nothing in common at all. This article is obviously " bochinche" meaning , just hype. To hype up some more low class d.r. illegals to call thier family's and start rumors. Please do not believe this , Dominicans are actually causing most of the crime on the east coast of the U.S. therefore will be deported first.

Since I have been following this forum I used to think that there was no illegal immigrants of Dominicant descent living in the US as most of the bloggers claimed. Finally, the truth is coming out since a solution is near sight. LOL.
