Santo Domingo.- in an eventual amendment to the Labor Code, an Administration headed by Danilo Medina would never adopt measures which harm the working class, labor Minister Maritza Hernández affirmed Monday.
"I don't think the rights of workers would be affected, that’s not possible," the official said on the labor unions’ concerns about the Commission appointed by the Presidency to study an amendment to the labor laws.
The official said Joaquín Luciano, of the Federation of Unions (CNUS) represents the working class in the Committee created by the Executive Branch to study the amendment of the labor code
Hernandez, speaking in a meeting of the Committee studying the amendment to the Dominican Social Security System Law 87-01, said the Commission is also comprised of representative from labor, to hear all views.
"The Commission is formed by lawyers and economists, who must do their job and give their opinion, while the Ministry of Labor through the Consultative Council, will verify the Commission’s work," she said.
